Was gonna say it's awesome to see Northern Ireland, Wales, Iceland etc... in there but then I remembered they expanded to 24 teams. Lame.

Yeah, but let's not forget that all three of those could go through as group winners.

Maybe something to be said for the perennial powers "settling" for second place in the new format, but I still think these are strong performances - old format or new.

Second goal for Norway. Pressure going to be firmly on Croatia to beat Bulgaria later.

Italy win to qualify for the finals.

Norway can qualify if Croatia drops points against Bulgaria.

Turkey needs to win at Czech Republic to jump back into third in Group A ahead of the Netherlands.

Group B also in action. Belgium and Wales both with chances to qualify today.

Perhaps this stat best serves as corrective to people reading too much into performances in qualifiers:

In perhaps their least productive decade ever, the Italian NT has now gone a record 49 consecutive qualifying matches for WC and Euros dating back to 2006 without suffering a defeat.

About 10 minutes to go and all kinds of drama.

Turkey up 2 away to Czech Republic. Would keep their foot Dutch throats heading into Tuesday.

Belgium will be in the finals momentarily with a win over Andorra. Wales will be in even with a loss to Bosnia (currently down 1-0) as Cyprus lead 2-1 in Israel. Third place in the group will be a three-horse race (Bosnia, Israel, Cyprus) heading into Tuesday.

Croatia holding serve with a 3-0 lead over Bulgaria. They will head to Tuesday two points adrift of Norway. Croatia travel to Malta (and must win regardless), while Norway have a tougher task at Italy to hang on to second. Neither can expect to finish as the best third-place finisher either because Hungary are currently in the best position there.
