What did I miss regarding Raul? How can we sell him after the deadline, or did it happen before and was just kept quiet?

I believe the Turkish transfer deadline ends later than England's.

The rules regarding transfer deadline's are that the association can decide how long they are, but they can't be longer than 12 weeks. Thus, Turkey's deadline ends September 5th.

So you can still sell just not buy? Got it, thanks.

Yes, Russia's deadline is later as well and the UAE's is like another month.

So there is still a chance we can dump Malouda?

Hope so.

And does anyone know if Luiz had ever played DM? I personally think Romeu gets more action there, but wouldn't be opposed to crazy arse Luis roaming around with Lamps. I don't see Bertrand or Ramires there just for the fact that they're so quick and play very spread out and open.

Glad we offloaded Essien personally as well. Hopefully he can find a fit for Real, wish him well.

I'm bias but I wish he had been given a couple of games to see how he would do after a full preseason of no injuries. It's hard for me to believe he could be any worse than Mikel.

I've seen it mentioned by a lot of Chelsea fans and it seems to me like it could work but I've seen it show down as nonsense many times as well.

Someone would have to teach him. Or he'd have to be fairly static. Or you could go to a three man back line with Luiz the libero.

Honestly I don't see any way Romeu doesn't play. The only players who can play that deep are Lampard and Mikel. Unless you want to count Malouda as a central midfielder.

I do kind of wish we gave him some action, but I'm just basing that off of the last few time I've watched him play. Just not the same Essien we used to see.

Don't get me wrong as much as I love Essien he it was hard to watch him play after he came back last year. Like I said I was just really hoping against hope that maybe with more time to recover and a full preseason to get ready he could come back and do a job for us, especially considering it wouldn't take a world beater to take Mikel's spot. I would have loved to see him get a game or two in before loaning him out and I guess RDM sees him in training everyday and just didn't think he had anything to give.

Yea it's sad that injuries kinda cut short his career as a world class player. He looks a shadow of his former self. Good luck to Essien. We have our share of players careers stall and or get sidetrack by injuries so I know how it feels. Hate to see quality players ruined by injury.

Unlike everyone else, I dont think the Raul M. transfer will hurt. We will be fine with 3 cm's or 3 CDM's as we play them. Does anyone else think David Luiz should be moved to CDM??? He scares the living Sh*t out of me when he plays back there without Terry. Terry at least keeps him in check. I just think he's better off as a CDM. But we could really use falcao. My god he's a flashy columbian prince. I think we also could use another CB.

When I see that my first thought is that he may lack pace then I realize Mikel is starting so Luiz is actually an upgrade athletically. The only thing would be that Luiz would have to be careful with the ball. A sloppy pass from a cdm could lead to a quick goal for an opponent.

Who said it would? I know most fans are happy he's gone. To answer someone else's question above, yes Malouda can be moved. He was left off of our CL roster FWIW.

Yes, everyone on the board is calling this move. It may work, but it may fail. I'd say it's worth a shot.

Really? For me, that's our deepest position when you're talknig about talent and experience. Not many, if any, teams in the world can claim to have a foursome as good as Terry, Luiz, Ivan, and Cahill.

French transfer deadline has passed. No word of a deal on Malouda yet.

ETA:Maybe he goes to Turkey, but I doubt it. There's a cool 58k a week sitting on the bench, or not even making the bench.

Chelsea officially submitted their 25-man roster for this season:

GKs:
Cech
Hilario
Turnbull
Defenders:
Azpilicueta
Bertrand
Cahill
Cole
Ferreira
Ivanovic
Luiz
Terry
Midfielders:
Lampard
Malouda ( )
Marin
Mata
Mikel
Moses (that's a frickload of M's in the midfield)
Ramires
Forwards:
Torres
Sturridge

Since Hazard, Oscar and Romeu are U-21, they don't have to be named on the offish roster, just fyi

Im starting to see Malouda = Chamahk.
They just sit and collect checks. Its really sad. Think they would want to actually play every so often.

I thought for sure he was gone when we didn't include him on the CL roster. He played a big part in our double in 2010. His decline has been rapid.
