I don't see the issue. Clubs can do whatever they want. Chances are the clubs will tolerate you as long as you don't act like an a-hole. Sounds like life to me.

Maybe I'm in the minority but I found it ridiculous that a club would hold a fan's season ticket hostage because he was saying mean words about the club on social media. Maybe focus some of that energy on actually fixing the club

Without knowing exactly what was posted online, it's hard to really make a determination as to if the Club is going overboard, IMO. If he's just been critical of play, coaching decisions, etc, then I think it's a bit ridiculous. However, if he's gone on to make personal attacks on the players and staff online, then the letter and agreement could be warranted.

It's also important to understand that in England speech can be censored to a greater extent than in the States. I realize this is a private organization and that only applies to public entities, but it still creates an atmosphere where this sort of thing is more accepted by the public than it would be here. Cultural context shouldn't be ignored. It's also tough to form any opinion on this without seeing the speech itself.

All depends on what the comments actually were. Not enough information to go on here. Maybe a thing, maybe not.

Agree. Context is important here.

I think they're perfectly reasonable in asking for an in-person meeting for the ticket's allocation.

Not only can they show what they found unacceptable, but they may also give the supporter an opportunity to rationally voice their displeasure instead of foaming at the mouth online.
