Odd thing though is that as much as I want to absolutely hate City (and PSG as well) they certainly keep buying a lot of players I really like in addition to Pelligrini being there.

When I moved back here (and I thought it temporary), people gave me shite on this board about picking a premiere side.

After City got Agüero, I made a big hullabaloo and said Citeh.

With further additions, and Pellegrini, it´s kind of a no brainer, but I still can´t find myself being keen on a side. I prefer to continue watching interesting matches, that´s all.

The prem is exciting, no doubt, but you as a Serie A guy, know what I´m talking about (even though La Liga and Serie A are also very, very different).

I think Rudi Garcia could certainly find a spot for Isco even in his 4-3-3.

Isco can easily play in the front three of a 4-3-3. His problem is that there is a very solid three in front of him, and Jese has basically turned into a midget (I mean like average height) Ronaldo. Isco just happens to be too good to stick on the bench for a couple of years.

Stick him at the point as a false nine or out wide, and he will do really well in a 4-3-3.

TBF, Benzema basically fills the same role. He just offers a good bit more, provided he gives a shite. Whenever Isco and Benzema are on the field, they're moving into the same space.

Agreed. Benzema is a damned head case. He still shows why so many believe in him, but he still f´s up so damned much. So damned much.

In his defense, his movement has got much better, and he is pretty unselfish now. His movement has created a lot of goals for others. A lot.

He also defends, it´s pretty amazing, considering how he used to be.

He is most certainly a love/hate proposition.

Isco can do his magic from a wing, no doubt, but he needs latitude. I liked how Pellegrini used him at Málaga. Then again, he had no choice.

Yeah, I'm sure the logic of Roma perhaps being interested in Isco is that he could thrive in any combination of the front three. . . more on the wing when Totti plays false 9 or with Destro but also can play the same false 9 role as Totti.

Really, all the main cogs in Roma's front three (Totti, Destro, Gervinho, Ljalic, Florenzi) are pretty fluid as it is with the only static part being Totti not being asked to track back and defend on a wing though we're probably most lethal when Totti is starting the counter from our third.

I'm really just a Roma fan even if there will occasionally be a club outside Italy I really enjoy watching (like Villarreal under Pellegrini and even after with Cazorla, Valero, Rossi etc). City definitely could begin to have that appeal under Pellegrini.

However, I've completely avoided the every American needs to pick an EPL side thing and am not particularly keen on EPL style football.

I do really enjoy this board as I like a number of the posters here. However, it's slowly becoming much more EPL centric than I remember. I often get the sense the sense more people are watching Stoke v Crystal Palace than Roma v Fiorentina or Bilbao v Villarreal, which, to my mind, is a bit unfortunate.

Just as Italians surely poopoo the attacking mind of Spanish football, and Spaniards the defensiveness of Italian, we both appreciate and respect, tactics.

I think these prem people can´t get into anything which isn´t mindlessly heaving up and down the pitch.

It´s evident when they see CL matches, and bitch about the officiating. The prem would be very boring were they to whistle every foul.

I still get a kick out of the English crowds applauding the awarding of a corner.

They mainly just say "why donta the defender justa go and take a the ball away?"

Seriously though, I think La Liga and the Spanish NT has really influenced Serie A recently. Roma has almost always embraced an attacking style (like, say, Spalleti's famed 4-6-0 champagne football) even when it was out of vogue.

However it's not only sides like Napoli or Fiorentina playing more opens attacking styles but perhaps more telling is that smaller sides like Sampdoria, Verona, Sassoulo etc are as well.

In small exchange, Diego Simeone seems to be giving La Liga a taste of some ol' fashioned take out your balls, break off a whiskey bottle and defend with your team for 90 minutes that used to be the norm of almost every Serie A side.

You´re correct. Also, Bilbao used to play very ´Italian´ styled football, until the eruption of Barcelona, and their contracting Bielsa.

Many northern sides who´ve been in and out of La Primera, were somewhat similar. Osasuna, Sporting De Gijón, Real Oviedo, Logroño, Santander............

I love his football, love his style. They´re very, very exciting, but don´t have the horses for the long haul. It´s a shame.

When's the last time Barcelona was out of the top 2 at this stage of La Liga? It's going to happen tomorrow.

DERBY NEWS

Colchoneros are saying ´6 chicharitos?´, ´ big deal, we put 4 past them´.

Poor Schalke, yesterday was something which scars the psyche. They´re fricked for the rest of the year.

Also, Enrique Cerezo (Atléti´s prez) says Diego Costa is ´tied up´ for the coming season. That is to say, they only need sell the Chilean Cebolla Rodríguez for at least 15M, and Costa´s to spend another season at the team from Manzanares. Hmmmh.

What an amazing performance. I just saw highlights but obviously BBC got a brace each, but Bale really stood out to me. He was unstoppable.

How do people in Spain feel about him? I feel like people were skeptical at first, but he's been tearing it up.
