or starters, the original plans for the camp have been altered, according to multiple sources. When the players first learned of Klinsmann’s plan, which involved camp starting on Jan. 4 and spending the first week focused entirely on fitness, veteran players expressed their concerns to U.S. Soccer.

The federation and Klinsmann listened. The start date of camp was moved a week later, but seven veteran players who were on Klinsmann’s preliminary 36-player list are now not expected to be involved in the camp at all: Clint Dempsey, Nick Rimando, Graham Zusi, Kyle Beckerman, Brad Evans, Chris Wondolowski and Gonzalez.

Honest to Christ, what does Benny have to do to get on the roster?

So basically Klinsmann is fricking up again and ruining his relationships with established players while refusing to call up some of our best pool options? Color me shocked.

An already-short MLS off-season is cut even shorter. Aside from a negligible per diem, the camp (which was originally announced as a 33-day siege) pays players only for the two friendlies that are staged at the end, per the CBA, and only then for those who make the gameday roster.

Wow, this is a pretty raw deal. Did not know this.

Holy frick, i don't understand why people bitch about playing soccer for a living, especially if you're a Dempsey or Altidore and are making millions.

Guys making less, I can understand, but the guys with the fat contracts bitching think their some Ronaldo or something. I'm not a huge Jordan Morris guy, but I bet he has zero problem getting his arse to camp for conditioning.

Or maybe professional athletes know they don't need to do an entire week of dedicated fitness training during the offseason

Also, still some Jurgen holdouts on this board. Surprising.

Most of these guys shouldn't be involved with the team going forward. We should only have some older players there to show the younger players what needs to be doe to play on the international level.

ummm

that's pretty much what happens when they get to their clubs.

You played sports growing up right?

Conditioning training always happens the first few weeks.

Drills, sprints, long runs etc...
