"better" tactical manager?

Not down playing Jurgen at with this thread. What I am talking about is how much better could we be with the current normal rotation of USMNT if we had our choice of any manager? Is Jurgen really holding us back a lot or just slightly?

Every national team has its limits based on their squad and that is a fact no matter who the manager is.

It is obvious that we can do better somewhat than we are now, but where would switching managers really bring us to? Final, Semifinal or top 8 WC caliber team?

I think it's safe to say that with a better manager we should have gone further in the gold cup.

With our current pool, we got as far as we deserved in the WC.

Just better organizational play and communication, as well as not playing players out of position, would mean we wouldn't lose to teams like Jamaica and Panama, as well as being more dominant against the minnows of CONCACAF.

That would also mean we would probably perform better against the bigger teams in the world. We aren't on the technical level of other countries and there is a probability that we will never will be. Therefore it's probably best to develop a counter-attacking attitude which plays to our strengths, which is usually athleticism. There might come a time when we can develop a more possession oriented game against the bigger teams, but for now proper organization and positioning would go a long way in improving the team.

The only thing holding us back is a solid CB pair and a striker that can stretch out and dominate the back line. We play so conservative because we aren't good at holding possession and it's too easy to counter attack on us. If he would just freaking put Bradley where he's suppose to be , find a CB pair and let the team play more aggressive we could make to the round of 8.

If pvilleguru coaches them, he will lead the USMNT to WC Final. That rec league experience will really set him apart.

Imagine the past WC, all things being equal, with Donovan and Benny.

Now, imagine this past GC with those two. Maybe leave Donovan out.

We would not be in the position we are in now.

The Mexico game would not be played Saturday.

We still lose to Belgium.

Add them plus a healthy Altidore and a Boyd on the bench, we might have been able to make the Quarters, but not further.

Yeah, find all of those posts where I've said I'm a good coach or I know tactics. I'll wait.

What if Landon Donovan was the guy in the position to tap it in instead of Wondolowski?

Still a tough shot.

Not as easy as the one he had in 2010.

I don't think that it's a stretch to say that we would be a better team with a better tactical manager. I think it's probably common sense, actually.

It should at least be put on goal, let's be honest.

Let's be real here, it was probably easier to make than to miss.....

Agreed, but with as close as the keeper was, it would be difficult for anyone to score. Not impossible, but it was more than just a tap in.
