ok read that wrong. I thought you were making a case for Rossi.

I know there is somebody on this board who likes to argue that Rossi is more Italian than American, and he made the right move.

The thing I don't like about Rossi is the "I feel like an American" crap he spews. If he feels like an Italian then I'd say he made the right move. If he feel like an American but decided to play for Italy because it's more prestigious, then that's garbage.

The thing is, no one really seems to give a shite about Najar feels. I see international soccer as a way to represent your country, not give yourself the best chance at success. If Najar feels like an American, I'd love to have him on the squad in a few years. If he feels like a Honduran, there's no doubt in my mind he should play for Honduras.

You may be thinking about me, but I'm not sure. I'm not saying Rossi made the right move, or that he's more Italian. I think he should have played for America. I'm pretty sure I would have in his position.

The part I argue is that people do stuff like that all the time. Cameronesi chose to play for Italy, Zidane chose to play for France, and the list goes on. I really don't see it as being much different than Freddy Adu playing for the United States, or even Bunbury playing for the US. I'm waiting to see the outrage about Hoyos playing for Argentina.

The thing I just don't like is that people direct their anger at him for being a traitor when most of them are just bitter we missed out on a good player.

well its the agent denying it. the interview was pretty informal, AN knows he is talking to a honduran newspaper so I think he feels comfortable and wants the reporter to like him. I think he wants to play for honduras but his agent still wants to keep the drama going of where is andy going to play, i guess for publicity stunts

This newspaper has a history of sketchy reports...

LINK

Regardless, I wouldn't blame Najar if he chose Honduras.

grant wahl, in the link that FoOBUDan just posted, claims this same paper made up quotes that were attributed to him.

if an official statement came out from najar's agent, then that raises a high degree of skepticism.

I would wish fires and the wrath of Brian McBride on his family.

I'm also looking at you Mwanga, you want McBride to pillage your shitty Congolese villages or do you want to play for the greatest country in the history of the world?

I'm a bit different. When I'm in India, I can't stop talking about America. When I'm in America, I still don't really care about India.

Maybe I misunderstood what you're trying to argue, but I just saw the video. Unless it's not him, or it's a doctored video, it's no misquote.

Edit: Just listened to it. It does sound like a misquote between what he said and the sentences written down.

Would you hate Rossi so much if his last name was 'Krueger' and he played for Germany?

Honestly just curious.

My loyalty is to America first and foremost, I haven't stopped hating Torsten Frings.

Oh I have no doubt about that. America is absolutely my favorite, and I've taken up rooting for Germany for multiple reasons.

I was just wondering if you would hate him so much if he played for a country you liked instead of hated.

Any talented American who chooses to play for Mexico better watch out for you.
