Macca brings nothing to the table other than "they need to get the ball out wide and send some crosses in"

His perplexity and rustled jimmies, when Spain played Euro 2012 without a striker, was high comedy IMO.

In fact, I´m going to youtube, to see if I can´t find it. I laughed my arse off.

Maybe I just don't see much of Macca when he's strictly discussing the English national team, but I don't necessarily think of him as a huge England homer. He is kind of stereotypically English in some ways (the Spain striker thing was good, not to mention his tendency to think almost anything is a good tackle: two feet off the ground, studs up....maybe a yellow).

Neither do I, some on this board do, however.

the discussion was about how poorly Mexico is doing. He gets his turn (a good thing, because if they kept talking he possibly could have suffered an aneurysm) and immediately attacks England for being an underachieving national side, like he´s got Tourette´s or something. It was weird.

yeah, he's a weird dude. seems like the overly aggressive guy that every group of guy friends has. i'm sure his bros are constantly telling him to calm down.

He's English. Homerism comes like breathing to them. I thought that was common knowledge.

Alexi has a long and storied history of either trolling the shite out of England or being extremely delusional in his perception of England.

I love Lalas and his USA ain't nothin to frick with attitude.

My favorite Lalas/Macca moment was in 2010 the night after the US finished on top of the group and ESPN put the graphic up.

Lalas was waving his arms around and was all "what a beautiful picture. Look at that." And giving Macca the business.

Lalas is biased, and can be kind of a douche, but he's not a bad analyst. Nothing like Lalas essentially trying to force McManaman to admit that England isn't that good. He was 100 percent correct about that.
