I admit, I haven't been a big follower of the sport but that's over now. I will not miss a single play and I will learn the rules. Any advice for a Football purist to prepare for a sports culture shock? My first start will be to Google "Rules of Soccer". Can't wait for first game!

Turn on NBC Sports and NBC this morning and watch the EPL matches.

If a parent says "You can't play on the ground!" or "That's a high kick!", never listen to another word they say.

At that age many of the "Rules of Soccer" won't apply. They'll most likely work on some skills and then play 3v3.
Just enjoy it.

Yeah, you can probably wait 3 more years before learning what offside is.

The Women's World Cup is coming up this summer. That would be a fun event to watch with your granddaughter and learn the rules.

Check out some of the stuff on this site: Soccerhelp.com
It has some good stuff on it down down to the earliest ages.
Note: Don't bother with any of the premium stuff. There is tons of stuff on the free site to read.

Learn to laugh at all the parents who yell and scream the loudest. They will be the ones who do not know the sport.

Sit back and enjoy the beauty of her playing the beautiful game. It goes by quick. Ignore most of the other ignorant parents and families.
