"As the president seizes on policy wins and seeks to turn the Russia spotlight on Obama and the press, some experts say liberals are in for a rude awakening"

This piece ran today in the U.S. version of Britain's The Guardian. Dare I hope it signifies a ray of sanity finally breaking through the media madness? The article is lengthy, but here are some highlights:
quote:

Meanwhile Trump finally caught a break on the worst crisis facing his presidency, the multiple investigations into his election campaign’s links to Russia. First, David Brooks, a Trump critic and New York Times columnist, suggested that the scandal may be overblown.

“There may be a giant revelation still to come,” Brooks wrote. “But as the Trump-Russia story has evolved, it is striking how little evidence there is that any underlying crime occurred – that there was any actual collusion between the Donald Trump campaign and the Russians. Everything seems to be leaking out of this administration, but so far the leaks about actual collusion are meagre.”

Then, the Washington Post published a major investigation that raised questions over whether Obama could have done more to stop Moscow’s interference in last year’s poll, quoting one former administration official as saying: “I feel like we sort of choked.”

quote:

He was handed another gift when CNN was forced to retract a report, citing a single anonymous source, that Congress was investigating a “Russian investment fund with ties to Trump officials”. It changed nothing about the Russia-related cloud over Trump but it did feed into his narrative that untrustworthy media organisations are conspiring against him.

With the fake scandals exposed, British historian Niall Ferguson revealed what the real nightmare for the media would be:

quote:

“I said last summer to a bunch of liberal friends, 'Your worst nightmare is not a Trump presidency; it’s a successful Trump presidency.’ The successful Trump presidency scenario is one in which, despite it all, the economy does better thanks to deregulation and tax cuts, foreign policy delivers some big wins on North Korea, the Middle East.

Trump's successes are starting to come to fruition. With the economy steadily improving, ISIS in retreat, and North Korea on notice, the President has started to rack up some major achievements. As Ferguson said, it’s a nightmare scenario for the media--one that looks to be coming true.

Isis has been in retreat for quite awhile and there has been zero progress with North Korea. The bull market is set to turn when investors cash out then we will see how trumps economy manages a recovery

Then why is he so roundly scorned by most Americans? Today's Marist poll shows 37% approve, 57% disapprove. The 538 poll shows 38% approval, 54% disapproval. Same story with Rasmussen, and his numbers are going down.

You mean like when he would be rejected and voted against by most Republicans because of polls?

Or when he never stood a chance to win the presidency because most Americans hated him because of polls?

Grow up Peter Pan. Count Chocula.

Most people elected him and he's doing exactly what we elected him to do.

The scorn has little to do with his performance; rather, it's about his personality and unconventionality, partisan politics, emotional fallout from Hillary's defeat, and constant media-driven character assassination.

Because realistically, about 60% of the country are complete morons who care more about who is pounding the kardashian daughters and what bathroom is being used than things that actually matter like jobs, economics, military, etc.

He has not achieved anything on any one of these topics, he's adding more troops to Iraq, Afghanistan, and Syria, and has increased airstrikes on two of the three (possibly all three). No major deregulations as of yet. The economic is fundamentally identical to the BHO admin. Not that Trump has any real direct ability to alter Monetary or fiscal policy.

Hasn't this election taught you anything about believing the polls?

Where do they get these poll numbers from anyway?
I've never been asked to do a poll, before or after the election.
Seems like there may be some selection bias skewing the results of these polls

The polls---The same polls that have Trump dipping in popularity are the same ones that had Hillary as a slam dunk victor. Geez.
