What's happens if she does? Someone gets promoted until a special election?
I cannot find the relevant statute, but the constitutional county judge recently resigned in a rural Texas county, and he was replaced by a vote of the county commissioners with the new judge to sit until the next regularly-scheduled election. No special election. I assume that they consulted the AG as to how they should proceed.

Thats preposterous. Houston is the city that city planning orphaned. Biggest clusterfck of a "city" I have ever seen

Want to share an anecdote.

There is a massive gaping pothole near me which I inevitably hit once again yesterday morning. Well me and everyone else in Htown.

I set up a repair order which took literally 1 minute and would you freaking believe that on my way home just now the pothole is fixed!

Dora, our mayor and our police chief all suck but man that is some efficiency right there.

I live in Harris and have no idea what she does. I'm not even sure I remember what a county judge does in theory besides approve county department budgets and issue liquor licenses.
County Judge is a weird office under the Texas Constitution. Basically a holdover from frontier days.

In smaller counties, he is BOTH a sitting "judicial" judge (the primary judge for probate matters, for instance) AND the chief executive officer of the county (essentially the "mayor" or the "governor" or "president" of the county).

In larger counties (like Harris, but including MUCH smaller counties), the judiciary duties are removed and assigned to "County Courts at Law," leaving the County Judge as purely an executive position. This must be done by the Texas Legislature, on a county-by-county basis. As such, in SOME counties the County Judge keeps SOME judicial duties while others have been reassigned to County Courts at Law. In other counties, all judicial duties are reassigned by statute. For instance, Hidalgo has no judicial duties.

I don't know - it can take four hours to go 20 miles in Atlanta sometimes

SJL is running for mayor of Houston, not for County Judge.

No, Harris County was up to the usual Democrat shenanigans, and the state has been piece-by-piece taking away their power. Harris County managed to short pretty much every red precinct on their ballots so that they ran out, had long lines, etc. - inexcusable. Didn't happen in the blue ones. Lina is as dumb as shite. She makes AOC look like she's above 80.
