You're leaving out Madonna, Beyonce, Whitney Houston.

Madonna had most teenaged girls wearing shite tons of makeup and fishnet.

Way worse than Swift. And Swift at least writes most of her content.

Just old people needing to be triggered by something.

It appears that every decade since WW2 has had a pop idol:

Buddy Holly
Elvis
The Beatles
Van Halen (Tiffany/Debbie Gibson)
Nirvana
Red Hot Chili Peppers
Taylor Swift

WTF?

I certainly hope so. I could use a Mary Magdalene in my life right now.

She’s got to be going on 10+ years now.

She may get there but she’s been making major bank for a decade of being a rock star and hasn’t *outwardly* cracked yet.

She may be fricked up behind the scenes or she may not, but she isn’t clearly as major a mental health issue or druggie such as Spears, Cyrus, Lindsay Lohan, etc., if she is functional.

Agreed. She leveled up in 2015 with her 1989 album - her first after she "left" country music.

There's a much more compelling case to point to Beyonce's career/success being credited to overt witchcraft/occult ties, but the two careers are not mutually exclusive. Beyonce having voodoo rituals baked into her live performances would not preclude Taylor's doing the same thing, simply to a different demographic.

No, real humans. Like working mothers, intelligent women who do something of meaning..

You'll never have teen girls, so its easy for you to pretend you know what the frick youre talking about.

As someone with a six year old girl, there are zero options amongst "pop culture' figures. Not many options out in the real world, either. Really need to go back to the Old Testament...

I have two daughters - the older one (14) can’t stand Taylor Swift and the younger one (12) likes her older music but not her…

We have never bought into “pop culture” people - ever - we have always watched old movies and their comedy ranges from old carol burnetts to bugs bunny to now naked gun and airplane (FF through a few parts)

My advice - as a dad who recently got out of the 6 year old stage get her into sports and develop her self esteem - she won’t need approval from the masses nor pop culture figures

Biggest thing is spend as much free time with your daughter as possible - there is a high correlation between quality of a daughters relationship with their father and personal happiness and high self esteem as an adult - effectively being a self-actualized adult - requires a kid earning their own success and for a daughter having a deep relationship with their dad. In our house faith has always played a huge role - but of the relationship with the dad is not there - good luck and your kid will scroll to find heroes

I have a 15 year old granddaughter, she hates pop music and these kinds of fads. Shes into 70s and 80s music.

Pros:

1- She’s a helluva songwriter and lyricist. Way better than you think she might be.

2- She’s not sexualized at all which is a nice alternative to other singers who glamorize their naked bodies and sing about their private parts.

3- Her music is accessible, catchy, and clean. If I had a daughter who wanted to go to her concert, I probably wouldn’t object (until I saw the ticket price).

4- She’s a very talented instrumentalist. She can play guitar, piano, and a few other instruments very, very well.

Cons:

1- She’s had to conform to “the message” to become more famous. She really sold out to do it.

2- A lot of her songs seem to be written to diss someone or to get revenge. She has a lot of celebrity friends in her clique, but that seems to make her a lot of enemies, too.

3- She comes off as super fake and cringe. I hate watching her talk. Her personality comes across as calculated and insincere.

4- She’s a terrible vocalist. She constantly sings out of tune.

He's talking "pop idols" and lists Red Hot Chili Peppers but doesn't list Michael Jackson or Madonna?

guess people say she dates a lot or alot of guys. But the last guy she dated for seven years. I don’t know what people expect.

They prefer a guy that has 5 kids off 3 different women.. that cheated on his first wife, then his 2nd , then his 3rd with a porn star!

Those same people want to talk about positive role models in the Bible, while they worship at the alter of Trump!

They talk about “family values “ all the while they belong to a cult that declares the man who says God Damn from the podium as some kind of messenger from The Lord! They quote the Bible, yet celebrate a guy that actually autographs people’s Bibles!

It’s extremely entertaining and sad all at the same time!

Genuine question, what has she done / said to warrant this particular comment?

I've always felt the complete opposite of this.

I'm indifferent on Swift, but I'm perplexed at all of hate she is getting from a lot of people. (not related to your comment, just in general)
