Why is CNN giving Trump a platform?

Inquiring minds would like to know . He just totally destroyed them . They had to know he'd bring the smoke . Yet the did it anyway .

Trump went there today because they were sure never to give him the opportunity to spoil their free for all ever before. Which he without a doubt considered an opportunity to destroy whoever their host might be, and even they would have been/were aware of his capabilities. He’s never dodged their questions before, during his actual Presidency (White House lawn too many times to count, press conferences, etc), and he would have gladly taken them up in this same invitation long ago had they offered.

I don't think it will go that far, but CNN knows Fox is shedding viewers and trying to cash in. And I'm sure it's a ratings hit for them

Remember that CNN is under new ownership. The new boss has stated he wants to get rid of the partisan hacks and has already fired some of them. Sounds like they want to go more centrist
