Many will say guns, many will say severe lack of mental care services for those who are not rich, and others will blame gangs, family issues, etc.

FIFY

Our culture celebrates violence more than any other developed nation on Earth. Plus a lot of people who grow up in poverty think the only way to get through life is to steal from others or to harm others. Education (or lack thereof) and family life are BIG reasons why.

I'll throw my opinions out there, in no particular order.

1) Failing public education in many states.
2) Ineffective law enforcement as a means of deterring crime.
3) An even more ineffective justice system.
4) Violence worshipped as a culture.
5) Out of control illegal drug epidemics in many areas.
6) The average American income is high but there is still a large amount of poverty in the country which fosters criminal activity.
7) Dramatic decline in two parent families.
8) Entitlements often perpetuate the lower class.

Why were Mexico and Estonia excluded in the chart? Not that it changes the question but just curious.

Idk why Estonia was left out but I'm sure the graph would have been skewed to meaninglessness if Mexico were included. Every other line would be crunched down into an unreadable blob at the bottom including the US

The graph also shows "assaults deaths" trending way down from the
Mid 70's (which is true)

Statistically we are 30 year lows for almost all violent crimes

The only reason "gun deaths" are trending up is because suicide is included in those statistics,

Also,if you take cities like Philly and Chicago there's no question we're
very comparable to all those other countries if not lower.

I don't know about other countries, but violence is really ingrained in our culture. You see it everywhere.

Sex in a movie is demonized, but extreme violence is celebrated.

So why are we approaching 30 years lows on almost all
violent crimes?

Yep. And the fact that our society tolerates violence, as long as it remains (mostly) in the lower economic classes (I.e., the gang culture).

And as well, a Constitution which defends Individual rights and casts the burden of criminal conviction on the prosecution. Throw in the apologetic, Progressive Ideological affect, and most hard criminals just walk.

Whatever we tolerate, we get more of.

The typical reaction is to cover our kid's eyes during a sex scene in a movie, but some parents are okay with letting them see violence.

This is something I've always found interesting. Why does America hate sex and nudity so much? We're becoming more tolerant, but you're still much more likely to see someone get their head blown off on TV than a nice pair of breasts. We suck in that regard.

Even Chicago's homicide rate has fallen dramatically, especially since around 2004
