Why doesn't congress have term limits?

The constitution doesn't limit Congressional service even though it would be beneficial to all in the long run if they did.

Because idiots continue to re-elect idiots. The founding fathers actually thought the populace would be smart enough not to continue to re-elect bad politicians.

Senators should not be elected at all, it worked quite well with appointees for the first 100 years of the Republic. The appointees were more in touch with the desires of the people of the states as they were given the job as a result of who the people chose to be governor.
