Why does Trump think the coal industry will make a comeback?

The coal industry has been in decline for decades. Its just plain inefficient. Machines have taken most of the coal jobs, not government restrictions. The cheap extraction cost of natural gas has left the coal industry in the dust.
My biggest problem with trump is his energy plan. Its archaic and obsolete.

Lol.
That's why every economist and financial analyst worth their salt thinks energy prices are about to fall off a cliff with him bringing back coal....
Because alternative energy is cheaper

He doesn't really think that.

China is leading almost everyone
And unless we spend trillions on infrastructure we will fall further behind in this category.

Is it going to "come back?" Probably not.
But whether it does or not, it's better to let try and fail, than to force it to fail via government.

Totes agree, we should just, like, use solar energy to run the economy and keep groceries in stock and gas ready to be pumped- or I supposed solar panels ready to be renewed

Why is that funny?
My electric in Houston is powered by entirely by wind energy. Rich Perry whom trump named secretary of Energy Dept made great strides to substantial increase wind energy in Texas during his term as govennor.
Have you ever left Louisiana?

Coal is great in theory. Jobs. Energy. Sounds fantastic.
So which beautiful city would like to volunteer to boost the coal industry with plants? There's no such thing as "clean coal." Coal comes with a price and that price is shitty air in your city. I'm all for coal - just not in my city.

I try to not go there. But when I have I try to leave quickly.

Because China plants are the same as the US....and a single plant produces less CO2 than a volcanic eruption does in 10 seconds.
If you're curious....look how many eruptions happen DAILY!

Those eruptions happen every day, nonstop, in the same city?
I'm not anti-coal. I'm as pro-industry and manufacturing as it gets. I'm just being honest about "clean coal."

If that plant were in the US it would have miles of scrubbers coming off that thing looking like an octopus and you wouldn't know it was there by looking at the sky.

So we just shouldn't care at all because there's nothing we can do about it?
Shouldn't we instead focus our efforts on R&D? Try and stay competitive with China?

Really? Your argument is "have you ever left Louisiana"? Thank you for putting your ignorance on display.

So you don't agree with exporting coal mined in the USA even?
I suppose you're not wanting to build more prisons either since you're NIMBY. Nor nuclear power plants, again, NIMBY. Landfills? Toxic Waste plants? More NIMBY. Yet all the so-called green energy stuff makes a whole lotta toxic waste to produce the hardware for panels, batteries, etc.. Rare earth materials for green energy make the net a negative for the environment. But hey, you're NIMBY anyway.

Then be honest. My numbers were the life of a plant versus minutes of a volcanic eruption.
To be perfectly honest one of the biggest sources of anthropogenic CO2 is by the mowing of lawns and decaying plant matter

The discussion is about coal. So whatever you're saying that has nothing to do with coal, has nothing to do with the discussion.

He doesn't care, he just said shite to get elected. The coal bubbas need to pick up a wrench and learn how a compressor works since coal country is smack in the middle of the Marcellus & Utica.
