If you study the history of this country, all momentous points were when great changed happened: It was "liberals" that wanted independence from Britain. It was "liberals" who abolished the institution of slavery. New deal, civil rights, worker rights, etc. Is history basically not proof that liberalism always wins? What great conservative causes have won?

Probably only appears this way because the progressives have successfully usurped public institutions and the publishing industry, so nearly everything written post-1964 is going to have a leftwing bias.

Government tends to necessitate more government

Governments don't start large and get smaller

They start small and get larger

You're conflating "Classical Liberalism" with today's Leftists.

Nice try though.

Liberals are true believers. The biggest difference between liberals and conservatives centers on social welfare.

People who vote Democrat because they hate conservatives aren't necessarily liberals.

Liberalism always wins because it's the squeaky wheel.

The simple solution is that liberal solutions are the better ones and what makes peoples' lives better.

People have chosen liberalism (today's leftism) because it offers better solutions to problems.

State solutions make lives better?
100,000,000 people in the 20th Century disagree.
Or they would, if they could...

Pure delusion.

It's not.

Classical liberals are pretty much ostracized in the democratic party these days. They're only liked for their social polices but but reviled for their fiscal responsibility. Thus, they don't exist in that party anymore. Progressives have all but hijacked the word liberalism and that's what they're referred to as these days.

There's a huge difference between classical liberalism and today's liberalism. You're not a classical liberal. They're basically libertarians of today.

Did you know that Milton Friedman was a classicl liberal? You most likely think he's an extreme right winger.

Libertarianism is certainly farther to the right than what YOU are calling conservative. I'm calling everything right of dead center as conservative with various subgroups along the line....like the Christian right; single-issue types (ban abortion); isolationists, etc.

What "I" am calling conservatism? "I" am using the textbook definition of conservatism. You can call it whatever you want, but calling a dog a frog still doesn't make it a frog.

You're kind of oversimplifying a bit, yes?

It takes a special kind of moral idiot to equate those most interested in preserving Individual Liberty to the societal depravities of Islam.

If you had any respect for yourself, you'd be ashamed.

You have redefined conservatism that way.

We can always pick the best parts and claim them as our own. That doesn't make it so.

It was conservative ministers the liberal MLK wrote his letter to. They were not supporting personal liberty. It was support of the status quo, which is what conservatism is at its core. You can't claim civil rights as a conservative value when conservatives haven't been a part of the movement.

Ignoring that is ignoring what is wrong with conservatism.

Black racists like yourself have undermined race relations in this country far more than any Conservative has. Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, Louis Farrakhan, Black Panthers, New Black Panthers, Congressional Black Caucus, Naacp,-all telling you your whole life to beware of the White Man-turning You slowly into this bitter old black racist that you are now.

The legacy of your thinking is broken families, baby-momma, baby-daddies, children raising themselves, out of control crime, jail, dropping out of school, AND FAILING IN EVERY MEASURABLE WAY AS NO OTHER RACIAL POPULATION IN AMERICA EVER HAS. Liberalism did that. The Great Society did that. YOU did that. Own it. Be the Democratic Party Houseboy that we know you are, you insufferable little race pimp.

WTF?

Are you really saying 1950 was better for black people? Really?

Also I didn't know I was black.
