Why do people qualify themselves before throwing out their opinions?

Seems like a common thing online now. And some may notice this pattern by reading the first few words.
Here's the equation:
1. Qualify yourself with so your opinion doesn't sound biased or hate.
2. Throw out opinions.
Here's some examples:
"I'm not a fan of Hillary Clinton, but she didn't do anything wrong here."
"I'm the biggest police supporter on here, but what they did to those protester was not right."
"Lebron James is my favorite player of all time, but he's not a top 10 all-time player."
The other day I was talking to this guy and the topic of BLM came up. He said "I have a couple of black friends, and we all disagree with it". Why did he throw the black friends in? Lol..is he afraid of being perceived as racist?

To eliminate at least one or more means of attacking the argument.

To mask their true intent

because half the posters will use ad hominem replies instead of addressing the topic or issues raised.

I feel it's just the opposite and too many give unqualified opinions on the internet.
Nearly everyone online believes they are an expert on every subject and are unwilling to cede to those who actually ARE experts on a given subject, preferring instead to make total asses out of themselves, just to get their opinions out there. All the while screaming "You have your opinion, I have mine" No pal , I have facts, I'm not sure what you have.

Probably because people here often assume you're a liberal if you say anything against Trump, which is not always the case. You don't have to be a liberal or even a Dem not to like some of the things Trump is throwing out there.

Hell, I'm not the smartest guy on here; so who knows?

Because the most common rebuttal to any opinion a person makes is an ad hominem attack. In order to prevent as many personal attacks as possible and direct the conversation to the topic at hand, people are qualifying their opinions. It's an attempt to remove themselves from the discussion. It wouldn't be needed as much if people just discussed the topics.

Could be because opinions are often nuanced and determined through a myriad of facts and other factors that have been mulled over before being stated for all to hear. Perhaps it's as simple as wanting others to know every consideration had been fully examined before the rendering.
I know 5 posters on this board personally and have a pretty good idea what they were thinking when I read one of their posts. But I don't always know what caused others to formulate their opinions unless they qualify it further.
In other words no one here wants to be misjudged.

Liberals on this board often masquerade as libertarians, moderates, or even conservatives to avoid the stain of their third world political ideas.

I almost never do this. It's much more entertaining to let people guess and assume.

I'm not a fan of Peter Ueberroth but I think you should qualify with the fact you cannot be inducted into the Hall of Fame. Thank you

Because in this age of motivated reasoning, it's increasingly difficult to have an opinion considered if you don't make clear that you're not necessarily from an opposing tribe.
People want to simplify everything and put you in one of two camps, when the real world is more complex than that. Relatively few people belong in those broad groups.
If you voted for Hilary, you must be a Hilary loving, SJW lib that hates America. And if you voted for Trump, you must be a Muslim hating, xenophobic, uneducated, racist hillbilly. No in-between.

Why do people state opinion as fact here? That's the one that aggravates.

I'm usually ok with the OP, but this one sucks
