Actually it's not true. It's the highest division of college football, both teams have winning records, and one of them is ranked. It's mathematically in the top 15 percentile in terms of game quality. It was one of the best games of the year.

Anyone who watched the first half knew what he meant. Multiple turnovers and very sloppy play. It wasn't great football.

The 2nd half, though, was pretty good.

Yeah but he was wrong. This year's Army Navy game actually was some of the best football of the year.

He wasn't wrong at all. He was commenting on the first half of the game, which was not good football.

Like I said, the 2nd half was much better.

It was a turnoverfest the first half.

Neither coach would claim that first half was their "best" football of the season.

Or.... You know... It wasn't good football on a basic and performance level? These guys KNOW that they are not top tier football programs. They KNOW people watch the game for the theatrics and tradition, NOT because it's a powerhouse game between the best teams in the country.

It wasn't a "swipe" at anyone. It was common knowledge that anyone with a pulse can see and agree with. It's just another way to see who are pussies and chastise them appropriately for being wittle bitty snowflakes.

.I just don't get why he had to take that swipe at those players.

Actually he was giving high praise to the players. They are doing this with a higher level of commitment than even the "best football."

THAT was the point he was making.

i.e. = "These players are playing their hearts out for the love of the game and the competitive spirit - they are not like an Alabama team full of super-starts just out to win another trophy.'

It's easy to see which people didn't see the game. First half was bad football with lots of mistakes and poor play. I would wager the coaches and players would have agreed with the comment in context. You can have NFL games that are "not the best football" as well even with very talented players and coaches.

This isn't the biggest deal in the world obviously, but you people sure are eager to defend Daddy to the death on it.

It was a dumb thing to say, and inaccurate. No big deal. He's not a play by play guy. Hey, Obama couldn't name one White Sox on the spot for Joe Morgan, either.

Did you watch the game? There were about 15 fumbles between the two teams.

It is, after all, still a football game, and can be commented on as such. Give reverence where due and levity where appropriate.

He didn't belittle the sacrifice they make.

Because they're soldiers and sailors. They understand and know they're not the best football players.

Why do you people insist on equality in every facet? That's not the way the real world works.

The problem you people have is, "All men are created equal." The part you forget to that adage is "...and then they are born."

I promise you, not a single player in the Corp or the Midshipmen got their feelings hurt by what Trump said. In fact, they are more than likely inspired to play better in future games.

LSU would wax both those teams by 40 points
Yea, and LSU recruits players like Ryan Perriloux and Jordan Jefferson, who could never serve a day in uniform.

Get a life; any way you cut it, it's a sport played by 20-year olds. It doesn't matter.

Who cares if it's Trump? The statement was accurate whether Trump said it or Obama. Defending the truth should not be seen as a bad thing.

Never said they could. This does not mean the military guys play as good at football as they do though. Those are two different things.
