Why are politics so different? NSFW

Let me start by saying that I have no political allegiance to any specific party. I am (ignorantly) apathetic about politics in general but I pop up over here every now and then to ask a question or two..

Anyways, never in my life have I been around or witnessed adults act the way political fanboys do. Why is that? Are you guys THAT passionate about your side winning and losing or being right about certain things? It's not just a tigerdroppings thing, I'm talking about across all platforms of social media, but obviously I see it here most.

This isn't a troll thread, I am genuinely curious to see the serious responses after the first two or three witty one liners
