A majority of cities—71 percent—will see Obamacare premiums rise by double-digits next year as more health insurers drop out of the exchanges, according to a report from the Kaiser Family Foundation.
The foundation analyzed data in the 20 states and in Washington, D.C. that had submitted rate filings to examine how much premiums were rising and how many insurers were participating on the exchanges.
The study evaluated the cost of Obamacare's second-lowest silver plan. Roughly 71 percent of enrollees have this type of coverage.

Of the 21 major cities that were evaluated by Kaiser, 16 will see a double-digit increase in the silver-plan premiums next year.
"Across these 21 major cities, based on preliminary 2018 rate filings, the second-lowest silver premium for a 40-year-old nonsmoker will range from $244 in Detroit, MI, to $631 in Wilmington, DE, before accounting for the tax credit that most enrollees in the market receive," the study said.

Only one city will see their premiums decline, while in some cities premiums will increase as high as 49 percent in 2018.
quote:
The vast majority of insurers included in this analysis cite uncertainty surrounding the individual mandate and/or cost sharing subsidies as a factor in their 2018 rates filings," the report states. "Some insurers explicitly factor this uncertainty into their initial premium requests, while other companies say if they do not receive more clarity or if cost-sharing payments stop, they plan to either refile with higher premiums or withdraw from the market."
In addition to uncertainty, health insurers will have to pay Obamacare's health insurance tax that adds 2 to 3 percentage points to premiums, which is another factor affecting premiums.
While some individuals will receive subsidies to insulate them from premium increases, the report notes that taxpayers will have to front the cost.

So...you don't think the information is accurate?

The study was done by the Kaiser Foundation, hardly a bastion off far right conservatism.

Wait... that was one of BamaAtl's go-to groups when propping up the ACA. I wonder why didn't she post this news on how awesome the ACA is?

I just think it's funny he peruses these sites all day. I'd go crazy if I had to live in that kind of bubble and just despise people all day long.

And whom exactly is it that I supposedly despise?
Also, Target that attack me personally like your two stablemates UH & 56, would you care to comment on the abysmal failure that is your boys "signature" accomplishment?

I'm not sure what my increase will be. Humana has left the Individual market in Louisiana and BCBS has said I have to wait for final pricing. But I least I don't get to keep my doctor.

The standard of double digit increases trying to be some outrageous number is a little comical. A $10 increase in premiums would constitute a double digit increase.
They only cite one example of premiums going up by a few hundred dollars and I agree that's awful and we need to fix healthcare, but I think lumping all of this into double digit increases is comical. Maybe stratify it by increases of 50, 100, or more to make a better point.

The GOP has no interest in repeal and replace. This has been proven by factual events.

Republicans fault for sabotaging this magnificent piece of legislation.
