Miniaturization was the red line of Japan, the US, and the UN. The next ICBM launch will be shot down by us and then all bets are off.

What do they gain by this? What are the benefits of engaging in this crap?

I don't know shite, but I don't believe they have nuclear missiles. They're just saying this to keep the US and it's allies from attacking them

Nuclear powers get a seat at the table.

If we let them obtain working missles/small enough nukes, we will have failed. Very badly.

I am not sure anyone really knows. The country and its motives are opaque.

This might be a way to shore up support for lil' Kim? Nothing like the threat of war to rally around the president.

Or they could be a legitimate threat.

They believe that we will back down and they will receive sanction relief. From their point of view, it's happened every time previous, about a half dozen times in the last 20 years. They see nothing different now, with the exception that they have a stronger hand.

They get paid by acting out.
If they get nukes, they will effectively become untouchable and can act out as often as necessary.

Why does Kim want to launch a nuke aimed at the US anyway?

The sanctions just made him more angry, so that gives him a "motive"

But prior to that, what's his problem?

And honestly, I do often think about how it has to be annoying - for lack of a better word- that the US et al boss all the nations around. You know the "you can't have nukes but we can." I'm not saying these nutjob countries should have them, but I'm just pondering their perspective. It's kind of like gun control on a much bigger level.

Has Kim had phone conversations with Pres Trump? Just curious

I honestly believe that Kim Jong-Un is mentally ill. He has this delusion that NK could, or is, the world's most powerful military force. He's brainwashed those in Pyongyang with propaganda and a state run media. The people that will be most harmed by this insanity are those in North Korea.

I can't for the life of me understand how he can stare down the US and not see that this is a losing battle for him.

if he does this he's dead and his whole country will be glass in under an hour, and his missile will most likely be shot down harmlessly. NK trying might be the most convenient way to end all of this actually. Would be more effective at stopping Iran from doing the same thing than giving them 100 billion dollars was

its time to call their bluff and make sure they understand what they say and do has consequences. Time to stack the DMZ. Put all of our naval forces on high alert. Create a blockade around all of their major ports with everything pointed at Pyongyang and all known missile launch points.

They want self determinism and to be free of the shackles of the globalist central bank yet still not be over sanctioned like they currently are
