What are you willing to admit now that this political year/cycle is done?

The biases that come with election years clouds objective reality for most people. We wear tinted glasses and say things we really don't believe because maintaining a narrative is so important electorally.

Now that it's all over, here is a big thing I will now admit: While the nominees' speeches were both subpar, the democratic convention as a whole was much better than the republican convention. I didn't post on here those three days, but the images I saw and the optics.... I knew she'd get a much bigger bounce than trump.

I knew the GOPe was doomed because they had no answers for 8 years and an outsider had a legit shot.

Americans were tired of hearing we need to pay more taxes.

I was right.

Democratic pollster Peter Hart tested the core message of Trump’s convention speech a while back, he found it performed far better among independent voters than the key passages of Hillary Clinton’s better-reviewed convention address. Trump wound up winning independents bigly.

There was even a thread on here about him saying Trump would win the election. LINK

I admit that this election was not about purity of conservative policy. It was about saving the framework of public debate and discourse.

We almost went down the road of silencing uncomfortable speech. The media literally colluded with the Clinton campaign and nothing happened to them.

It was so close.

I will confess to my portfolio being much better off today than it was 8 years ago.

I actually hated all of the RNC. Trump's family were the only redeeming speakers.

Christie, Rudy, and the rest disgusted me to be honest.

I thought Trumps speech at the convention won him the election.

It was the most entertaining convention we've had in years.

NeverTrumpers making a scene on the floor.

Rudy with the one america speech and Christie with the lock her up speech.

Melania's Michelle moment and the 25 page freakout thread after that.

Ted Cruz's conscience speech was epic and a great fitting end to the crazy shite that was the 2016 GOP primaries where everybody on both sides of the aisle lost their fricking minds. It was awesome watching Lying Ted getting booed, Trump showing him up during the speech and hearing about donors going ape shite on him and refusing to let him into their suites.

And Trump's speech was fricking epic as it was a departure from the usual rainbows, flowers and fairy dust bullshite nominees have been putting out forever and actually told americans the truth about what was really going on and what the problem was.

But the MSM told me Trumps speech was "dark" and "scary". That is absolute proof to me that the MSM is out of touch with America.

ETA: I will admit is was VERY wrong about Kasich. I looked at his record in Ohio and didn't do my due diligence on the rest of his policies before the primary.

I thought the GOP convention was a disaster.

I was pretty sure Hillary was going to win for the last month, and I was open about that here.

I thought neverTrumpers were going to matter.

I believed all along that something would cause Trump to withdraw from the race.

I underestimated the independents in this country... Never thought Trump would win, but glad he did over the alternative.

I was sure that we'd be stuck with that evil bitch for the next four years, continuing the downward spiral Obama has put us on.

I still don't know how good Trump will be, but it can't be any worse than what we've seen over the past 16yrs.

I will admit I'm not sure Donal Trump has what it takes to be a successful president. But, hopefully he'll surround himself with the right people. Honestly, this election was about Trade Policy, Immigration Policy and Supreme Court Justices for me.

I thought at some point Trump would bail on his run for office.

I thought HRC would really be indicted.

I thought the MSM could not be more biased than years past.

I could not watch election night for fear of a tv screen full of HRC's gloating face.

It was the most important election in my lifetime. The thought of HRC nominating supreme Court justices is terrifying.

Van Jones' "whitelash" comment on election night wasn't that far off the mark. However, in voting for Trump "we" weren't so much lashing Obama because he was black, but we were sure as hell lashing his failed policies, progressives in general and the colluding MSM.

I didn't think Trump could beat Hillary, regardless of bad she is. I just couldn't see him giving a State of the Union address. Shocking to me.
