Honestly, what's the difference between linking a NYT, WaPo or CNN versus a Breitbart, Info or Fox News. Don't tell me that the former has any credibility.
They all have agenda's and clearly NYT and WaPo have been wrong as much lately as they have been right.
This story may or may not have legs, but this has become as much about throwing it against the wall to see what sticks as it has to do with verifiable journalism/reporting.

Until NYT or WaPo devote 100% of their effort for a month toward winning a GOP congressional primary in Wisconsin, I'm going to give them more benefit of the doubt than Breitbart.
