You'd have no problem day after day breathing in various amounts of H2S, methane, ethane, benzene whatever in trace amounts? Not to mention the fricking dust down there due to all the dirt moving ops.
Basically, their living in the middle of a giant chemical plant.

Its almost like the companies that own TV stations use them for PR and propaganda for things that benefit them....
That said it is highly unethical for them to not disclose their conflict of interest.

People work in chemical plants for 30+ years. How bout we not use scare tactics.

If H2S is suspected of being released into neighborhoods, I would have H2S monitoring set up around my house and neighborhood by a third party. If any hits were recorded and depending on concentration and frequency you'd probably have a pretty strong case in court against the violators.

Sometimes the smell is worse than other times and the locals complain, but I don't recall any abnormal health issues being discussed in these other regions.

Sure. And therein lies the problem between the industry and its critics. The industry says it's 100% safe, no problems and the detractors claim everything's polluted we're all gonna die. Both are false.

First time I think anyone has considered an earthquake and fracking to be weather related events. As noted above look at who owns them or what to expect the reporting to find an answer to the "problem". This will be taken as gospel truth by very many people. The intelligence of far too many low information voters was displayed by a night time comedian on the streets when he informed brainless idiots on the streets of LA of the recent death of Franklin Delano Roosevelt. Someone needs to place a yellow dog on a ballot with a D behind his name and see how many votes he gets.

I agree with this.

There are maybe 2 other regions in the country that are seeing this much activity - the Permian and the Marcellus. Shale drilling isn't like drilling conventional prospects. It's a large scale industrial process. In the EF we built a field where none had existed before so this entailed a lot more than drilling a few wells here and there...it was multi pad wells, flowlines, gathering lines, trunk lines, central facilities, plants, roads, electrical lines, 10 acre frac ponds, etc. It's really unbelievable. I've never seen anything like it before.

Would you agree that when it comes to this type of thing you are vastly more sophisticated than most of the folks living down there?

Yes, given the fact I have been educated by and work in industry and basically grew up around it. I get your point.

quote:Depending the PPM level the producer/plant/facility should be equipped with monitors and alarms in case of a problem to alert nearby neighbors. H2H is not as deadly on a windy day as it is on a very calm day. Its heavy and settles in low lying areas.
