While the ACA did pass, most people agree Obama screwed the pooch by wasting so much capital on it instead of going after leftwing causes like increased taxes in 2009, instead of a watered down healthcare bill.

Now we have this example from today.

You go after healthcare only later, because it's an issue that will be lots of sausage making.

Expect the standard incoming prez to go after taxes and social stuff first, from now on.

Yeah, I mean who knew healthcare could be so complicated? Obviously not our current President.

The very first thing a Democratic President will do is push for Medicare buy-in and /or a public option.

Just because your party is too chicken-shite and ignorant to get anything done on health care doesn't mean the adults aren't ready to step in.

Why are you surprised? His background is solely in opposition. He's great at getting people together to hate an idea, but finding a solution and leading is not his strength.

The government should not have been involved in healthcare in the first place.

Can we finally agree that ObamaCare is all but indestructable. It has survived two major constitutional challenges that went all the way to the Supreme Court, and now has survived an attempt to replace it.

¡ObamaCare!

¡ObamaCare!
It just needs insurance companies to carry it.

How's that trending?

Maybe, but now the vast majority of people are in some capacity subsidized by the government, either by the VA, Medicaid, Medicare, ACA exchanges or the one most people like to ignore, the subsidized employer sponsored insurance market.

Pull on any of those levers and you will have the weight of millions of people(in the case of eliminating the ESI tax subsidy, you will have 150 million people pissed off) coming down on you.

This is why health reform is so hard. But just getting the government out does not seem to be the will of the majority of people when faced with the consequences of that, even in an ideal state. Since it would mean a lot of the population could not afford care when they need it most and that would weaken the market in this country severely. Because as much as people hate the idea of paying for someone else, it also means paying for those people provide incentive for innovations and investments. A new expensive cancer drug is much less of a good investment if very few people can afford it.

Millions of new insured. The only issue are the folks who refuse to work together to address problems.
