Abbott is a Bush stooge who is reactionary, not proactionary. He is usually 3 weeks behind DeSantis.

The problem is that our border is being over run and Abbott and Patrick and the rest are fundraising off of the border crisis instead of actually doing anything about it.

Abbott and Patrick call into the talk radio stations here in DFW to talk about the border crisis and they talked more about Afghanistan and Abortion than they do the border. They are fundraising off Afghanistan(that has nothing to do with Texas politics) and Abortion(settled law now) and their phone call into the radio station sounds like a fundraising pitch or campaign speech while the border is overrun. Abbott and Patrick have plenty of time to fundraise at the border but no time to do anything.

Spare me the whole spiel about how they can't do anything because its under the federal purview. Force the Biden administration to generate the bad optics of sending in the military or national guard or whatever to prevent the Texas government from border control. Force the Biden administration to act. Go down with a fight. Instead Team Abbott hides behind the "muh we can't do anything because thats the federal government job muh" excuse so they can get away with doing nothing. You think democrat governors under Trump would have given a shite? They loved to thumb their nose at the Trump administration and move forward anyway. Democrats play to win and we need state leadership in Texas that plays to win as well.

At the very least they could try to enact COVID control on the migrants coming in but they don't even do that, meanwhile the mayor of Del Rio is forcing COVID positive American citizens in Del Rio to quarantine for 14 days and Team Abbott lets that happen.

If given a choice between Abbott and O'Rourke, there is no choice though.

You are 100% correct. Real Texans wanting to buy ranches and relocate to the north side of the Red has pushed my farm value through the roof the last 5 years. I am 10 miles from the Red and the ranchers I know down there are fed up with Austin and if their land wasn't in their family for generations, they'd be out.

ha ha ha "we need" like you are even voting for the Republican nominee with a statement straight out of the Democrat talking points.

Next time you try to pretend to be a republican leave out

quote:

Abortion(settled law now)

Only democrats and wishy-washy Bush types use the phrase settled law with abortion.

Abbott and Patrick are doing nothing about the border.

Dan Patrick calls into Rick Roberts to talk about the border and starts going off on Afghanistan and Abortion. What the frick do either of those things have to do with the border. Even Rick Roberts called him out for going off the subject.

Wait...what?

"So what if the SCOTUS says Eviction Moratorium is illegal. Do it anyway"

"So what if vaccine mandates exceed POTUS authority. Do it anyway"

silliness

I’ve never been a huge fan of Abbott or Texas conservatives in general for many of the reasons you mentioned. They’re entrenched GOP establishment types for the most part that talk big with just enough action to give the appearance of doing something.

The truth is, most of them just want to maintain power.

Muh Texas independence

Can the SCOTUS get it wrong? Can the Feds be negligent? Can they abuse power?

The Bill of Rights was written for us, the people. We don't need judges, lawyers, etc to tell us what it means. We tell them.

If we are being invaded and the USG is derelict to protect us can we defend ourselves?

Abbott is awful and is really starting to make Texas vulnerable to Beto and the left

Beto has much better chance than people here realize. I remember the Beto signs all over Southlake. Traditionally conservative strongholds are now purple at best.

Paxton and Gohmert are good: the rest are compromised by corporate campaign dollars.

They are both politicians that will put their career before those who vote…
Texas has a lot of these right now…

I stopped bragging about our state and how well run it is….(I used to do this often) …the recent ice storm (just one example) is something I will not forget for a long time and they had solutions prior and after offered by many other state leaders… they left us out in the cold with their actions…
Right now many of our state politicians are all talk and no actions…

Except that very document spells out that SCOTUS indeed DOES "tell us what it means".

Look, frick Joe Biden, frick Fed Gov..frick ILLEGAL immigrants. All of that. But, let's not be hypocrites bemoaning Biden ignoring constitutional limits and them bemoan Texas leaders for NOT ignoring them.

That’s a great comparison. Both asleep at the wheel and possibly compromised.
