Today, I concede the idea that the US can not be like China, India, or many other countries that have strong tech sectors and manufactuering.

We simply are not good enough, smart enough, nor able to do it. They are just smarter, better, and willing and able.

Slave Labor is the key to China's economy. Maybe our government wasn't smart enough to keep slavery legal? Maybe we aren't good enough to pay people in food and lodging? Tech is strong in these countries because they work for 1/3 of an American.

Asia (sans JaKoTa) doesn't have innovation. That's what they lack. God help us if they ever learned it.

India isn't homogeneous by any means. Only 40 percent speak Hindi dialects, while the southern half of the country seriously resents the influence of Hindi. The country is a patchwork of different religions and different ethnic groups. Calling it homogeneous is straight up inaccurate.

Korea and Japan is a better claim for homogeneity. India isn't.

Both of these countries you mentioned have a frickton of people, and are willing to work in terrible conditions while making a very low income. If that makes them "better" than us at manufacturing, then so be it.

The Indian subcontinent, from an socio-cultural standpoint is far more homogenous than, say, southeast Asia and Oceania. Even Pakistan w/ the Muslims shares a lot more things in common with Indians than with Middle-Easterners.

Actually the economies of China and India are relatively new powerhouses. Just like England, they eventually gave way to the U.S. The U.S. eventually gives way to China. Someday China will give way to someone else.

China has a lot of cheap labor compared to the U.S. so that is a big advantage for them.

That homogeneity is localized. The Bengali's have their own language, the Sindhi's have their own language, the Punjabi's have their own language, the Gujrati's have their own language, and the list goes on. I've traveled there extensively and I'd argue that America has a greater degree of homogeneity than the sub-continent does.

Offhanded comment, not really arguing for. If I'm wrong, I'm wrong. I'll read more about it later when I have time
