If Trump came forth with a proposal that included building a physical or virtual wall, deport criminal illegal immigrants, defund sanctuary cities, BUT it also included amnesty/path to citizenship...would you be for it or feel betrayed?

For it, as any thinking person should.
We simply cannot uproot and deport 12 million people.

If have to think about it.

I don't think they are going to do amnesty without touchback citizenship.

I for allowing decent people to stay but not for allowing them to be a citizen. There should be consequences. You broke our laws, you can stay but can never be a citizen!

This. Don't break up families but don't give the parents citizenship.

Deport violent criminal illegals. Secure the border and create an amnesty program for
those currently here. Remove the citizen birthright.

Quit repeating this bs. We can seriously disincentivize their remaining here. They will largely self- deport.

We don't know how many are here and the countries they came from won't really tell us if they're criminals or not because they don't want them back. Any that have committed crimes here need to be deported, after they help us build the wall.

We need to enact strict voter I.D. laws and anyone found violating these laws or committing any other type of voter fraud should be tried for treason. They should also be fined heavily and that's more money for the wall.

Anyone that came here illegally and is granted a right to stay should never be allowed to vote or get gubment benefits. If they don't like that they should leave.

The folks running these sanctuary cities need to be jailed for not upholding the law. They should also be fined heavily and we can use that money to help with the wall.

amnesty/path to citizenship

We have a well established legal "path" to citizenship in this country. We should not reward people who entered illegally by somehow putting them in the express lane ahead of other folks who are currently going through that process legally.

If illegals want to be citizens, I can see giving them a deadline to apply for citizenship and enter the process. After that (and if they don't), time for them to head home.

It really isn't that hard.

I am not in favor of anything that simply gives folks currently here illegally the same immediate citizenship status that I and you have just because they came here and we don't want to deal with the issue effectively.

I think the anchor baby birthright citizenship thing is the one law that 100% needs to change.

I have always been for pathway to citizenship for one simple reason. The vast majority of those who are here illegally came at great peril and risk for one purpose - to work. Give them an opportunity to do just that while paying taxes to the U.S. Treasury. A work visa program that rewards you for working and being a good citizen.

And sorry, lawlessness should not be rewarded. All of the other programs and initiatives need to be addressed.

I was never worked about the issue anyway. Securing the border is most important. I can live with whatever else they do.

I've been thinking about this. Why do they deserve citizenship? They didn't come here to be citizens, they came here to make money and ship it back to their families in their home countries. A large percentage don't identify as American first. They're pretty quick to whip out the Mexican flag when they start protesting. So with all of that in mind, why should we grant them amnesty and give them full voting rights as citizens?

They are here for economic reasons, so let's keep it in that scope. Give them some form of work permit that allows them to work here but also requires them to report income and pay taxes. Failure to so would void the work permit. After a period of 5 or 10 years, those who have paid taxes and had a clean criminal record could apply for fast track citizenship with no penalty.
