Why cover it up? Finding WMDs would have legitimized the war, it seems like. This makes no sense.

So there *were* WMDs in Iraq, they were just WMDs that WE helped them build. No wonder we never found them. We didn't want them to be linked back to us. Bad press.

nothing was covered up.

We know there were old chemical weapons.

This does not mean Saddam had WMDs he could use.

So am I supposed to be mad that Bush was right is vindicated or that the government hid this.

I need to know where to yell at a cloud.

Just found it on one of those breaking news twitter feeds and copy pasted everything I saw. I bet more details will pop up soon.

Here's the NYT story:

"The New York Times found 17 American service members and seven Iraqi police officers who were exposed to nerve or mustard agents after 2003. American officials said that the actual tally of exposed troops was slightly higher, but that the government’s official count was classified."

A better story would be about the sick and dead from exposure to burn pits. Not very sexy but true.

Apparently he could use them as U.S. troops were "wounded" by them. Just because you don't have a delivery system for them doesn't mean you can't use them on the Kurds.

I guarantee at least 10% of the posters here think we found current usable WMDs.

So, did our troops discover unusable chemical weapons and accidentally get contaminated? Please explain.

The NYT story I linked goes into great detail and would likely answer all of your questions better than any poster here could.
