US Senators and Representatives should be at home more than D.C.

With teleconferencing technology being a thing for well over a decade now and video conferencing continuing to blur the need for physical meetings outside of being more formal, there is no reason why US Senators and Congressmen need to be in DC a majority of the time.
They need to spend most of their time in their constituency and be unable to hide from their constituents when they continue to do shady votes and deals that aren't in the interests of those they represent and usually favor their donors. And there should be a mandated amount of town halls they must perform a year and have them on the weekends, not on a weekday during the 9-5 time period where most are at work so they can prevent a bunch of hardball questions getting thrown at them.
Needing to physically be in DC to vote on a bill in 2017 seems archaic. It'll also be cheaper for us so the taxpayers don't have to keep subsidizing the living expenses of these people who are pretty much well to do financially anyway.

How are they supposed to network with the lobbying firms they will be working for after they leave Congress?
