I had a great-uncle fly with SAC out of Fairbanks, Alaska in the 1960's. He said they always flew to the edge of Soviet airspace, and the Soviets flew to the edge of our airspace, all of the time to test the response time and techniques of their foe. Nothing new here.

Happens all the time. They used to have an intercept board on the BX wall. Listed number of intercepts by squadron for the month.

If you think this happens all the time then you are crazy. This is very rare and is and a valid reason to be alarmed. Typically, when a country does this, it's Government is preparing to launch an all out attack and I hope that we are prepared for WAR!
