The terrorist behind the 2000 attack on the USS Cole is believed to have been killed in a US airstrike in Yemen on Tuesday, according to a US administration official.

Jamel Ahmed Mohammed Ali Al-Badawi was an al Qaeda operative who the US believes helped orchestrate the October 12, 2000, attack on the USS Cole that killed 17 American sailors.

The official said all intelligence indicators show al-Badawi was killed in a strike in Yemen as a result of a joint US military and intelligence operation.

US officials told CNN that the strike took place in Yemen's Ma'rib Governorate.

The administration official said that al-Badawi was struck while driving alone in a vehicle and that the US assessed there was not any collateral damage.

CNN link is out there.

Just driving along humming a tune on the radio, and boom. Only his car gets zapped out of existence, as if by God. Fitting.

Apparently he was in custody and escaped multiple times for the first decade after the bombing. Still surprising it took them this long.

That's impossible. The geniuses on this board convinced me that we aren't in Yemen.

Sheds new light on that whole Trump/U.S./Saudi-backed genocide thing.

We have zero business being involved there. At all. Let the damn Arabs kill each other if that's what they want to do.

Agreed. Unfortunately, Trump doesn't. He's following dutifully the establishment agenda in the Middle East.

quote:

We are told that US foreign policy should reflect American values. So how can Washington support Saudi Arabia – a tyrannical state with one of the worst human rights record on earth – as it commits by what any measure is a genocide against the Yemeni people? The UN undersecretary-general for humanitarian affairs warned just last week that Yemen faces "the largest famine the world has seen for many decades with millions of victims." The Red Cross has just estimated that a million people are vulnerable in the cholera epidemic that rages through Yemen.

And why is there a cholera epidemic? Because the Saudi government – with US support – has blocked every port of entry to prevent critical medicine from reaching suffering Yemenis. This is not a war. It is cruel murder.

The United States is backing Saudi aggression against Yemen by cooperating in every way with the Saudi military. Targeting, intelligence, weapons sales, and more. The US is a partner in Saudi Arabia’s Yemen crimes.

Does holding hands with Saudi Arabia as it slaughters Yemeni children really reflect American values? Is anyone even paying attention?

It is sad indeed that we insist on bankrupting ourselves over there indefinitely. We cannot fix it, and no one over there wants us to.

Yea, spending two decades and untold amounts of money playing whack-a-mole with replaceable extremists, while increasing their overall number tenfold is a great reason.

19 years equals a lack of human intelligence, especially with the Saudi's and Emiratis all over Yemen.

Or......we can no longer hide the fact that we're in Yemen and have been for a while, so the propagandists got out in front of the story with this gem; so that the sheople will continue to blindly follow along with the establishment agenda in the Middle East.
