I remember when Lefties moaned and complained about the TOM's CEO speakign at a family focus (anti-gay group) meeting.

LINK

He didn't even know what the group was all about. He just wanted to spread the message.

Where were all these people when Obama's past needed to be dug into? What groups he ran with?

When the Dem party divests themselves of racist associations, race baiters and profiteers, believers of Critical Race Theory, and renames all the places that pork money bought and named for former KKK member Dem Robert Byrd; then I will care.

Next time a Dem candidate speaks with the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, or CNN races to interview someone on a "black" matter from the New Black Panther Party, or the Nation of Islam, and these actions are put in question? These actions are deemed controversial?

Yeah maybe I'll care then. Until that happens it's just butthurt BS.

Like Bill Ayers, Bernadine Dohrn those leftist terrorists from the Weather Underground, or Derrick Bell, founder of Critical Race Theory? Those people he knew, met with, defended.

That's why this is all Liberal B.S.

Half-truths dear, a CORRUPT Governor.
An accurate assessment of that time would be comparing that election to Le Pen's in France, one of protest against decades of corruption.

I don't recall a Republican candidate for presidency calling NYC "hymietown", the medias go-to guy for many years on questions of race, Dem Jesse Jackson said that.
I don't recall a Republican inciting an anti-jew riot in Crown Heights, NY, look it up.
I do recall problematic anti-jewish views expressed at the last DNC.

Ya know, I think Scalise made a mistake 12 yrs ago if he appeared in front of this group, but let's be honest ,some are making at his in to a great big deal when it really isn't. If he is guilty by association from 12 yrs ago, then we need to threw all the bums out in DC. Starting with the top man. I mean come on people this doesn't rise to the level of the IRS targeting people and lying and lying and lying. Like letting Vetrans die. Some of you are real sad people. I do not know Scalise so I can't comment on him personally ,but I do know Cedric Richmond and he would never had come out backing this guy if there was an inkling of Racist there. But some of you seem to know Scalise very well, please tell us why he is a racist again?

Oh and don't say well "I've lost confidence in him if he makes those mistake". I mean my God we have a congressman in DC who thinks Gaum is going to tip fricking over. And he one of the smart ones.

Did he or did he not speak at a white supremacist convention?

Did Obama knowingly attend a racist church for 22 years?
Wait, this doesn't count because he is a Lib and blacks can't be racists.
White Supremacist are a tiny majority of the population and do things that many people find offensive which is strikingly akin to gays. Yet gays expect and demand representation. Shouldn't White Supremacist be afforded the same representation?

What was his message to the group? What did he say in his speech? I would think that would be relevant, and yet I have not seen it mentioned. He could have been promoting peace and harmony between the races. What a wonderful thing that would be if politicians spoke not only to those that agree with them, but those who share a different view! God Bless Steve for making the effort!

The need for tax reduction and smaller government.

Perhaps so. Must a politician know the acceptability quotient of audience members before giving a speech?

However, in this case Scalise was not "making the effort." He claims he simply didn't know. Of course, he also claims to have made an error in judgement, which calls to question the veracity of his claims to not have known.

I think he fell into the trap of accepting the premise of the question. A conservative should never assume that the media is being anything but dishonest.

I do think the veracity of his claim is ok - he can say he doesn't recall speaking to that group, but if he did, the 'mistake' was in not properly vetting the venue prior to his appearance.

This whole thing is another piece of yellow journalism that is the hallmark of the media for the past fifty years.

If that is the case, it would have nothing to do with judgement. It would have to do with vigilance, or staff competence. There is a big difference.

OK - I can agree with that.

Was his 'error in judgement' response an off-the-cuff response or was it a response offered after he had studiously considered the question.

I am not concerned either way - if he went to a group of warm bodies to offer up a stump speech, I don't see how it matters what the group was.

If he went to a racist group with praise and support for their agenda, then that would be significant.

But I am a realist in the old sense - I hate modern day political maneuvering and 'gotchas.'
