Good. I hate those things. If I wanted to scan groceries, I would have dropped out of high school.

I hate that Home Depot did away with their self checkout. I was fast as hell at it. Now I have to wait for the one person working it to feel like checking me out

Most CEO'S are out of touch with reality.

Why would they care when they grab 25 million a year and get fired tomorrow?

Soon the usual suspects will crying that self checkout lanes being removed in select stores is racist.

I'm expecting talking head news reports and local politicians to start bemoaning "self checkout deserts" in our cities.

Gotta hate them "thiefs."

Seriously, though, I agree with you.

Retailers obviously considered the possibility of small-time theft (like our own shitake mushroom thief) when they installed these things. In some locations, the theft is greater than they anticipated, so they are scaling-back .those locations. Only an idiot would fail to anticipate the need for that sort of adjustment.

The only thing interesting about this development is the inevitable, coming backlash from the race-baiters, because that faux outrage is equally inevitable.

yeah bc standing in line waiting for someone else to scan your groceries is so much more dignified than getting it done faster yourself.

too bad high school nor your parents taught you humility.

Our local Walmart recently finished a remodel that greatly expanded the self-checkout.

Our new Publix has several and the Winn Dixie added them during their remodel 3-4 years ago.

Glad we have them....

Dollar General is also pulling back on self-checkout machines, Fox News Digital previously reported.

How am I supposed to check out then? Cause I never see an actual employee there

The company announced last month it is set to remove the self-checkout option from 300 stores experiencing the biggest loss of merchandise.

I bet I can guess the demographics of the immediate area of these stores

They are just prepping to hire all the migrants at a discount because Biden will give them tax breaks.

but if you do want to move to organic at a discount, this is the way.

They also hired more asset protection people to watch them

Those used to be called cashiers. I mean, this defeats the whole point of the operation. Cutting costs by installing self check machines just leads to higher cost.

I've left items that wouldn't scan, so that's at the very least a lost sale. I have also unintentionally walked out with items I forgot to scan. SEVERAL times, I have though of not scanning items and I'm usually honest, I can only imagine what dishinest people do.

They just need to remove the self check out in certain distinct locations.

The white suburbs can police themselves.

The animals in the cities can not.

shite is not hard

Make me CEO. I’ll fix this crap in 1 hour.

Yes, because that is the only card they have. It's pretty pathetic that they don't do anything to fix the problems in their culture. Like holding themselves to a higher standard.

Years ago I was in the Menard's in Madison and you could only exit the store through checkout lanes.

They had turnstiles as you entered the store to block traffic from exiting that way.

Found it interesting at the time.

At WalMart you're lucky if more than 2-3 cashier manned registers are open.
