Muslim countries taking in large numbers of Muslims. Sounds great.
Who is complaining about it?
What are you talking about? No one is saying that we should be taking the ones that Jordan is taking. I was responding to the idiotic comment above that said that no Middle Eastern countries had taken in refugees and the countries south of Syria had taken in ZERO. That is totally false.

What are you talking about? Read the thread. How does this comment make any sense at all in the context of this thread?
I'm not advocating that more refugees come. I'm explaining why the U.S. takes in refugees. It is because we are part of a global order and there are 65 Million refugees and we took in 85,000 last year.

You clearly think the US government is capable of vetting them. I don't share your faith. I've read the steps.
I've seen evidence that the government does what it wants on different issues.
Why don't you provide the proof that they were all vetted properly. Let's see the documents and the interviews.

Right. Hold on. Wait just a minute and I'll pull that up. Because, of course I have access to rhat information.

That was my point. Just take the government's word for it. They said themselves that vetting them is difficult. It's not like there's a reliable database in Syria. It's not like terrorists would say, 'you caught me. Don't let me in. I'm really planning on killing folks in America.'
I just don't trust their vetting process at all and there's no way to increase that trust as you pointed out.

They have other ways of doing this. Do you think that terrorists are infiltrating refugee camps to go through a huge process where they might get picked to come to America and have no way of knowing that before they go in?
Nevermind. This is pointless. Believe what you want. I don't care.

Key facts:
•Gulf countries including Qatar, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Bahrain have offered zero resettlement places to Syrian refugees.
•Other high income countries including Russia, Japan, Singapore and South Korea have also offered zero resettlement places.
•Germany has pledged 39,987 places for Syrian refugees through its humanitarian admission programme and individual sponsorship; about 54% of the EU total.
•Germany and Serbia together have received 57% Syrian asylum applications in Europe between April 2011 and July 2015
•Excluding Germany and Sweden, the remaining 26 EU countries have pledged around 30,903 resettlement places, or around 0.7% of the Syrian refugee population in the main host countries
I'm not certain of the dates so maybe it's different in 2016 but as of 2015 it was 0.

Turkey has taken in 2.7 million.
Little old Lebanon has taken in over 1 million.
Jordan (South of Syria) has taken in 655,000.
Egypt (South of Syria) has taken in 115,000.
Iraq, 227,000.
Curious to know how the quality of life is in those countries right now. I can assure you it was absolute shite before; but add a few million Muslim refugees; I would dare to say it resembles a zombie apocalypse.

She literally never answered his question as to how does importing Muslim immigrants benefit the average American. All the left has is diversity as a pitiful excuse for an answer.

What is the proper response to those that say we are a "nation of immigrants"?
I'd have a few responses for this. First of all, nothing is as simple as a single phrase.
How many people do we let in before we implode? Our country can't harbor everyone. Unemployment is at record highs and the economy is fragile. The nation of immigrants you speak of was a young country in desperate need of workers. That's not who we are anymore.
How about legal immigrants, visa applicants, etc... why are we allowing Syrians and illegals to cut the line? Honest people with something to offer want to get in the right way.
What about national security? The review process liberals touted is a known sham. We have no clue who is coming in and if someone tells you its tax neutral, you should slap the pumpkin spice latte out of their hand.
Are these truly pilgrims in search of the American dream? By all accounts, these are proud Syrians simply trying to escape a deadly situation back home. Will they assimilate? Will they ever go home? Do they even want to be here?
It always troubles me to see average Joe dems support this policy. It's a classic example of a self serving political ploy that benefits Noone, yet they contort to defend it because they were told to.

She answered it FINALLY but it wasn't a great answer. Her true response was: it's safer for the average American because they will come here anyway--at least they are being vetted through 5 agencies for us to accept them. I'm not sure this is very good logic but... its what she ultimately offered.

Why haven't other ME countries taken in refugees? Those south of Syria have taken in NONE...0...nada. They should be setting the first example as the neighboring countries.
You have no idea what you are talking about. Middle eastern countries have been taking in millions of refugees since the late 1800s.
Lebanon is almost half refugee and immigrant now. Iraqis, Syrians, Palestinians, and don't forget Armenians.
Turkey has taken more than 2 million from Iraq and Syria since 2003
Jordan has lines at the border or Iraq and Syria full of future refugees. They also have massive Palestinian refugee populations. They took Iraqi Refugees since 2003.
You guys really have no idea what is going on in the middle east. I would just love it if people who don't understand what has occurred there would just shut the frick up about it.

Are you suggesting that just because we had a wide open door in the past that we should continue to have one. There was a time in this country from the mid 1920's until about 1968 when we had a quota system and things worked just fine. Why do we not go back to that?

I can assure you that you are completely ignorant
Lebanon: econ freedom score of 59.0, GDP 98th ranked, population basically equals the greater Atlanta area.
Turkey: 18th ranked GDP, the vast majority of the population lives a european or near european QOL:
Jordan, 89th ranked GDP, one of the most economically free countries in the region. From wiki: Jordan is one of the most liberal countries in the Middle East with a secular government.[59] In the 2010 Human Development Index, Jordan was placed in the "high human development" bracket and came 7th among Arab countries, after the Persian Gulf states and Lebanon.[60] The 2010 Quality of Life Index prepared by International Living magazine ranked Jordan second in the MENA with 55.0 points after Israel.[61]
Decades of political stability and security and strict law enforcement make Jordan one of the top 10 countries worldwide in security.[62] In the 2010 Newsweek "World's Best Countries" list, Jordan ranked 53rd worldwide, and 3rd among Arab countries after Kuwait and the UAE.[63] Jordan is also among the top ten countries whose citizens feel safest walking the streets at night.[64]
Egypt is a massive and diverse economy with the 23rd ranked GDP.
Iraq has the 56th highest GDP in the world, and despite the massive invasion and current ISIL catastrophe caused by that invasion, has a functional economy. What you see on the news is not the whole of the country, and no, Iraq was not a "shite hole" before 2003 either. Baghdad and Mosul were massive international trading hubs. Of all these countries, Iraq is by far the least comfortable for the average person. It has also been at war since 2003.
You don't have to go through life stupid. We have the internet.
