The reason I'm focused on women this go round is because it's probably past time the GOP put another woman on the bench. Liberals have 3 at the moment and I think it's about a 70% chance Trump goes with a woman to replace Kennedy if he decides to retire.

Let's look at the potential women SCOTUS candidates

Diane S. Sykes age 59
LINK

Margaret A. Ryan age 53
LINK

Joan Larsen age 48
LINK

Allison H. Eid age 52

Long Shot

Kelly Ayotte age 48 (Remember 51 votes is new threshold)

Can we get a conservative woman judge who is also attractive by chance?

I want the best candidate to be nominated. I don't care if that person is a woman but I don't want to go PC with the pick to score points.

Disqualified.

This presidency is about making sure conservatives hold the Supreme Court for as long as they possibly can.

Gorsuch is ten years younger than that at 49 and you want to nominate someone that's ten years older?

Age is a very real and significant factor. Get them as young as you possibly can. Whoever the nominee is should be no older than 52 at the very latest.

I guess Clearance Thomas should of never been on the court? Although I applaud your contempt for the politics that surround the court, I'll just remind you that the best judges don't make the best candidates most the time. Moreover, if you think politics should be left out the selection process in picking a nominee then you miss the point. Trump almost has to put a woman on the court to "score some points" so it comes down to picking the best one.

Okay now that's out the way I agree Sentius that age has to be a major factor when deciding a justice. You want a judge that will be there 20-30 years.

I know she's older and if that is make or break for you it's certainly understandable, but I really like her as a Justice. She's perhaps a bit further right than Gorsuch and is a textualist.

One positive thing about age is she has an extensive body of work to look at so you know what your getting. I'd much rather get a 60 year old conservative for 20 years writing textualist based opinions then get fricked with a 50 year old that turns out to be a Justice Souter for 30 years (appointed by a republican and everyone was just sure he was going to another Scalia; boy did that back fire). Souter was actually 51 when nominated if my quick math and wiki is correct.

How about no. Pick a judge based on knowledge of the Constitution and backbone to uphold it, not because "It's one of the 'her' turns".

Judge Jeanine. Too bad she's not a bit younger.

And beyond that Rak, the main issue that the Dems will demagogue is Roe v Wade. Trump's next Nominee WILL be a woman. Politics.

Clarence Thomas is a fine judge, but he didn't "score us any points" because he's black.

W. had all kinds of minorities in key positions during his 8 years and never got any credit for it. The media will not give R's any credit for minorities, they just disparage the minorities we appoint.

No 24 year olds? Would be nice to solidify a seat for the next 60 years.

Because looks are all that matter in a Justice of the SC.

Best candidate, regardless of whether they have a beaver.

But, if we are checking boxes (pun intended), she needs to be in her 40s.

Im ready for a white woman

I would hope that a wise White woman with the richness of her experiences would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a black male who hasn’t lived that life

If there's a strong candidate who can check off a certain box, then go with that candidate. You have to avoid giving the D's an identity politics talking point.

It's like a first round pick. You can draft for a need as long as the player isn't a reach.

1. He is extremely qualified
2. Very Conservative
