President Trump’s executive order closing the nation’s borders to refugees was put into immediate effect Friday night. Refugees who were in the air on the way to the United States when the order was signed were stopped and detained at airports.

quote:

Mr. Trump’s order, which suspends entry of all refugees to the United States for 120 days, created a legal limbo for individuals on the way to the United States and panic for families who were awaiting their arrival.

quote:

Mr. Trump’s order also stops the admission of refugees from Syria indefinitely, and it bars entry into the United States for 90 days from seven predominantly Muslim countries linked to concerns about terrorism. Those countries are Iraq, Syria, Iran, Sudan, Libya, Somalia and Yemen.

quote:

The attorneys said they were not allowed to meet with their clients, and there were tense moments as they tried to reach them.

quote:

“Who is the person we need to talk to?” asked one of the lawyers, Mark Doss, supervising attorney at the International Refugee Assistance Project. “Mr. President,” said a Customs and Border Protection agent, who declined to identify himself. “Call Mr. Trump.”

The Muzzie invasion has stopped.

Glad to hear. Except the one's who landed. I hope they are vetted well like all future immigrants should be and allowed to stay or leave based on that well founded information.

Long over due and I hope the few stuck in limbo over here are un stuck one way or the other.

I can't wait for the melt when he cuts off aid to the first country that refuses to take them back.

Catholic charities sponsor a lot of them. I don't know about airfare though.

Catholic charities get BILLIONS of your tax dollars. That's YOUR money they're doing the sponsoring with.

They need to let those people in who were in the air when it was signed.

Imagine you had to leave your home due to war, spent months interviewing to get refugee status. You're finally allowed to leave. When you get to your destination they say nope you're not getting in.

I would be absolutely devastated and infuriated.

IMO those in the air already should have been allowed in.

Why should charities get government money? I mean, it's basically welfare with a middleman. Charities should get money directly from people who want to donate to that specific charity, that applies for organizations such as planned parenthood, as well as christian organizations.

Absolutely - it is irrational to not do so - bordering on stupid.

Absolutely - any other arrangement is not 'charity.'

Charity by force or deception is theft, pure and simple.

The executive order, which Mr. Trump said was part of an extreme vetting plan to keep out “radical Islamic terrorists,” also established a religious test for refugees from Muslim nations: He ordered that Christians and others from minority religions be granted priority over Muslims.

And where did the 911 terrorists come from? oh yeah, Egypt and Suadi Arabia.

And almost every terrorist attack since? Oh yeah, American citizens.

Remember when this board bitched about Obama using too many EOs? Welcome to the new age of EOs.
