Do people actually think Charter schools are good?
I think the problem is that there are some really good charter schools and some absolutely corrupt and terrible ones.

Regardless, from a principled position, I support school choice.

HOWEVER, I don't think it's going to solve whatever problems exist. Just like more general practitioner physician choices doesn't change much if people don't change their habits.

I agree in theory, but we need better metrics and better controls for variables (value-added analyses are a good start).

In other words, if only mediocre educators are put in a school with higher SES a d ability students with actively involved parents, the student outcomes will likely better than the school with all of high quality educators but lower SES and ability students with limited to no parental involvement.

What if I don't want to send my kid to religious school? What are my options for a good school?
It seems like vouchers are just a disguise to force kids into Jesus schools

Why do you stupid bastards think that competition doesn't lead to better results? Everybody need a trophy? If you make a better mouse trap and I think I can beat your arse with a cheaper one that equals those I'm in

Well he's done a good job these far.

BUT I would think you would be upset that the "evil" Goldman Sachs appears to have such a prominent role in his administration.

It does. I just don't think we've done a good job determining and accurately measuring results in education.

I do not care where people came from if they do what he says they are to do on that 100 day list. I have never cared about where people come from.

Maybe he is picking guys from the 10% of GS that are not shitheads. If he is not he can fire them.

It really is kind of simple. All this wailing about this or that selection will matter as much as polls in August* do now if they carry out the plan.

*which I said at the time didn't matter because if they were off we could just hear "something changed" in the interim >>> so if they could not be evaluated objectively they were useless

This crap whining about the Cabinet is just another parlor game like tracking polls was.

So what about the kids who were failed? We just tell them they waisted a few years of their youth when they should be getting smarter? Sounds like a great system.
