How about the original question? Better to tell SA to do better or apologize for America?

Hillary or Trump? Who do you choose if you had only those two to pick from?

And you were by Obama's mousiness? I'll take blustering over silence any day of the week concerning issues like these.

Play along. I would prefer neither as well but that wasn't an option.

Not if I don't want to be involved in this simpleton two choice bullshite. Both were shitty choices so I didn't pick either.

quote:Well that's good. Because the bluster is for your consumption. The people he blusters about have figured out his game. Hell they invented it. Hugo Chavez and every other tinpot dictator could always make some hay by howling at the moon about the US. They didn't really think we were the cause of all their problems and we didn't pay their claims much mind, but the domestic audience for which it was truly intended ate it up.

what happened
NATO countries started paying more. You're being intellectually disingenuous and you know it.

All Presidents use bluster. Some just bluster about different things. Yes, I just made bluster a verb.
Obama bluster: "most transparent", keep your doctor, etc.
GWB: No new taxes
Clinton: Hell too many too list but my fav is I didn't have sex with that woman.
And on and on and on. It's a bi-partisan tactic.

When did that happen
Saying we will think about paying more and actually seeing them meet the GDP requirements are two totally different things. Trump hasn't been in office long enough to the later to happen.

Ask yourself this: Why doesn't he tell the Israelis the same thing? He'll have Zionist cum stains on his Yarmulke from the Wailing Wall Bukake Party they'll throw for him in Jerusalem when he visits there soon. His little prayer note that he sticks in the Wall will ask God to stop the shower. He is clearly Bibi's bitch.

Don't the Saudis actually spend a lot on Defense? I thought they were a good customer for our MIC?
Edited to add: Yep, they're fourth in the world total(they were 3rd in 2015), and spend a greater percentage of GDP than any other natuon I can find a verifiable figure for other than North Korea).
Per capita it's even more extreme, Saudi Arabia spends more than twice as much per capita on defense than any other nation.

He's right. If countries want to outsource their military to the US, they should pay us appropriately for it.

I don't disagree with what he's saying but I think that he is only saying these things. Have NATO members actually ponied up more $$$ since he said they needed to pay more?

With NATO he has a point (though it was raised way earlier and was already being fixed), with the Saudis he's off base-- they spend a shite ton in defense, Saudi Arabia spends more on defense than any other American ally.
