Well the man did win an election to the highest office in the world in his first run with no political experience as he defeated "the most qualified candidate to ever run for the office" according to Obama. That alone seems to indicate he does have a very cunning mind when it comes to political tactics even if you disagree with his views, though most would consider him highly unorthodox. Results indicate he knows what he's doing.
