So... Trump didn't pay off her mortgage, Tunnels for Towers paid it off.

Yep. Not realizing if Trump had paid it directly he would have incurred a 40 percent gift tax. By giving it to the charity he avoids that and gets the deduction. OM still B, though!

A complicated Tax avoidance scheme... just made illegal retroactively to March 28th, 2024 by the New York legislature. This law sunsets at the end of 2024, and only applies to a small group of people whose initials are DJT.
