"BUT since we are having to compete in this system, we will play by their rules!"

Real progress would be doing the exact opposite like in Estonia.

Congress ought to (of course they won't) mandate paper ballots, hand counted, no mail in etc for federal offices. There is a max of 3 federal spots on election day. A small group can read, verify and log a ballot every 5 seconds, that's at least 10 per minute. Typical precinct has about 3000 ballots on election day. By the next morning you can count everything - twice. Multiple witnesses. No shenanigans.

That will never happen. Elections are handled by the states.

There is no reason to not lean on the side of more strict voting and counting rules other than corruption.

I never said federalize elections.

10 states have a population smaller than the population of Estonia. So we can start with them.

When it works and you can have election results seconds after the polls close people will start liking it, plus no need to wait 5 days for all the mail in ballots, just vote electronically. Even seniors now know how to do things on the internet.

Congress already has a law that says there is ine day set aside for voting
quote:

The Tuesday next after the 1st Monday in November, in every even numbered year, is established as the day for the election, in each of the States and Territories of the United States, of Representatives and Delegates to the Congress commencing on the 3d day of January next thereafter.

We've just turned a blind eye in enforcing that

I wouldn’t mind elections every four year so everyone shows up.

Sick of midterms where my friends call me day of and ask me how to get a hold of a sample ballot sheet.

Electronic voting can ensure all voting takes place before on on official election day.

No. Some place with a small yet highly homogeneous population has that luxury (depending on shared personal ethics), a large diverse population does not.

The further we move away from voting in person at a voting booth, the more access we allow for people to defraud the process.

Trump is a circus ringleader, tricking many people. It is all about him making money. He has fooled many people. Yep, that is some of you.

My only problem with physical paper ballots is how are they verified and validated that XYZ voter physically filled out the ballot and not some DU or Soros funded get out the vote filled out as many ballots as they could fill out and forged the signatures of the voter or created voter fake voter registrations. Or they just Xeroxed a bunch ballots.

Paper can be just as insecure as electronic.
