I get that. Perhaps the calculus has been made that it will be easier to bring in some Democrats.....

Who knows

Well Trump isn't and has been conservative, so this isn't surprising.

He's correct

The Freedom Caucus has became a bunch of self righteous aassholes unwilling to compromise with anyone. Why don't they just declare themselves Democrats and be done with it.

Why don't you just admit that you're a Democrat, because you want to work with them so badly?

What is surprising is the congressional GOPe is a lot less conservative then their rhetoric implies.

ETA: they should be pulling Trump right but they are not. The a urging him left.

I get the sinking feeling that this Presidency, and Republican hold on Congress will simply be wasted. We got something we never thought we could when we gained total control, in an age where things are increasingly going to the left, and we can't do anything with it but fight each other.

I honestly thought Trump would be eager to work with the Freedom Caucus guys over the Establishment, but apparently not.

Because they are the opposite of Democrats. Trump is much much closer to being a democrat than the HFC.

That's what it looks like, but at this point, we don't know what's really going on behind the scenes. The establishment is as bad as the left.

Not supporting a plan for being too much like Obamacare doesn't exactly point to being a Democrat.

I'm not a fan of the GOP establishment....McCain and Graham could go frick themselves...ditto for McConnell and the Bushes

But, I've never been a big fan of the "Freedom Caucus" in the House. I don't think these guys know how to craft laws, nor do they have any ideas in and of themselves other than a slavish devotion to.....well, I'm not sure. They have had 6 years overall o come up with a plan to replace the ACA and they have yet to even trot it out....and they DO have avenues in which to do it. If all they want is to trash the ACA (not a bad idea) and go back to the status quo ante (before ACA) that's not gonna fly and it's a political loser I'll bet even among their base.....pre -existing condidtions

There's a bunch of drama queens in here.

What is Trump's policy. National populism. Trump said he was going to turn the GOP into a nationalist worker's party, not a libertarian party.

quote:

We are two months into his presidency and he just declared war on conservatives. I hope the freedom caucus fights him on literally everything.

This is hyperbole. Trump also made Paul Ryan look like a bad House Speaker. Trump made the democrats and republicans alike look like fools during his campaign. The deal is you can either work with or against and when you work against Trump takes note. It isn't a big deal and it doesn't mean that they can't work together so just calm down. He's just asking the Freedom Caucus to join his coalition in his way.

Don't take things so personally.

But what a joke that Trump has taken the side of the establishment and frick all of you who gave us this shithead.

What Trump is trying to do is bring these FC members to the table and get them to put some input in. They don't work well with others. That being said , the Ryan plan was not good, but the Freedom Caucus is not bringing up a plan. They don't have anything.

Healthcare is not an issue that is going to go away and the sooner the uber conservatives in the House finally understand that, the better they will be. The government has been inserted into health care for 50 years now....they are not getting out.

EVERY person in this thread that supports what the freedom caucus did... Answer the following please.

1- Would a bill with all of their "wants" be formulated, would it pass the House?

2- Would it pass the Senate?

3- If the answer is no to either of those questions then it's a none starter.

Freedom Caucus is not the problem. The Establishment is...and they are against him. Until he figures that out he won't get anything passed.

Let's play this game with Trumpcare.

1 - Obviously a "no"

2 - who knows

3 - not actually a question.

So the results for Trumpcare are that it is a "none" starter.
