Among the handful of attendees Maureen McCarthy Scalia, the widow of the late Supreme Court justice Antonin Scalia.
Three others guests lost loved ones at the hands of illegal aliens. Jamiel Shaw Sr. lost his teenage son in 2008. Jessica Davis and Susan Oliver both lost their husbands, Detective Michael Davis and Deputy Sheriff Danny Oliver, in a shootout with an illegal alien in 2014. Both were police officers in California. Congress has proposed a bill in their name that would increase cooperation between federal and local law enforcement.
Megan Crowley was diagnosed with Pompe Disease at one year old and only expected to live a few years. Her father founded Novazyme Pharmaceuticals to help find a cure. Megan is now 20 years old and attends Notre Dame.
The final guest is Denisha Merriweather, who became the first member of her family to graduate from high school and college. She completed the Esprit de Corps Center for Learning through the Florida Tax Credit Scholarship Program.
