Former president Donald Trump signed a pledge to accept the eventual 2024 GOP nominee when filing to become a presidential candidate in South Carolina, even though he has repeatedly refused to sign the RNC’s similar pledge that is a prerequisite for joining the first Republican primary debate in August.

Last week, Trump’s campaign announced that he officially filed to become a candidate in South Carolina.

“President Trump officially files to become a candidate in South Carolina after he delivered a rousing speech at the SCGOP Silver Elephant Dinner,” his team tweeted. “President Trump will once again dominate the First in the South Primary on February 24!”

As a condition of registering, however, Trump had to sign the South Carolina Republican filing form, which includes a loyalty pledge.

“I hereby affirm that I generally believe in and intend to support the nominees and platform of the Republican Party in the November 5, 2024 General Election; that I will not knowingly violate any election law or any law defining and prohibiting corrupt and fraudulent practices in campaigns and elections in this state. . . ,” the form states.

Alternatively he’s using this as a completely disingenuous excuse to not debate.

Nope. Christie shouldn’t be eligible either if he doesn’t sign or he is being disingenuous.

That's exactly what this is. He knows he'd get embarrassed.

Do you think he's going to sign whatever paper he has to so he can be on the stage? So what is the point anyway? I wouldn't be able to support anyone who ACTUALLY feels like they could endorse Christie, so...

And then offered amnesty in negotiations with the dems.

He says a lot on the campaign trail...

Follow through decidedly lacking.

Hey.

Would you say if I mentioned someone 27 times in 10 minutes, I would be obsessed?

Just checking.

It’s crazy the RNC is pushing this when half of the field is running just to oppose Trump. Christie and Pence will not actually support Trump .

Christie and Pence aren’t serious candidates. Neither would be running if Trump wasn’t running. Trump is absolutely right to not say he would support either one of them

Oh bullshite. Trump has always crushed it. He drug his nuts all over a more formidable field in 2016. Ted Cruz, Rand Paul, Rubio, Bush, etc. What ever became of Jeb Bush?

He'll sign it during infrastructure week. Right after he unveils his replacement for Obamacare.

Trump was the loudest idiot on a crowded stage in 2016, but lol at bragging up a win over Jeb!.

Remember when a potato made Trump look foolish in 2020?

Meatball would fricking smoke him.
