Trump administration reportedly fires top State Department officials

President Donald Trump’s administration has reportedly fired an unprecedented number of high-level State Department employees in a major shakeup at the federal agency.
“It’s the single biggest simultaneous departure of institutional memory that anyone can remember, and that’s incredibly difficult to replicate,” David Wade, who served as State Department chief of staff under Secretary of State John Kerry, told the Washington Post, which first broke the story.
“Department expertise in security, management, administrative and consular positions in particular are very difficult to replicate and particularly difficult to find in the private sector,” he added.
As former ExxonMobil CEO Rex Tillerson, Trump’s pick to helm the State Department, was getting acquainted with Foggy Bottom this week, there was a smattering of firings and resignations occurring.
While Post reporter Josh Rogin’s report suggested that all the officials resigned, CNN has a different take. State Department officials told Elise Labott, CNN’s global affairs correspondent, that the Trump White House fired four top officials.
So much for their resignations... lol

There was a thread down below where knuckleheads were all like yeah! Draining the swamp! Yeah! Go Trump!
No-one seems to have noticed WHO these people were.
One of the four was one of the political guys. I suppose you can like that, though I think he was a political appointee and would have left anyway (but I am not sure about that, if I am wrong, sorry, honese mistake).
But the other three were career guys in the dreary sectors that simply keep the damn place running.
The head of the consular service. Do you know what that is guys? Any of you have a passport? These are the guys that make them? Anyone ever have a relative die abroad? These are the guys that box them and put them on airplanes home? Anyone ever get robbed while in Italy or someplace? These are the guys that will go help you at the police station.
I have no idea why people are doing the happy dance about this person leaving.
Then you have the administration guy. This is like the Human Resources guy at any large company. Payroll. He buys you the plane tickets for trips. He makes sure the light bulb bill is paid. If the phones break he gets them fixed.
I have no idea why people are so please about this person leaving as well. These jobs might sound easy but trying getting lightbulbs fixed or medicine or clean drinking water to your embassy staff in Equatorial Guinea and you will see why this is a crap job and we are lucky to have people do them.

If you don't see eye to eye with the Sherriff, then you have no business being a deputy.

There are plenty of talented people that can take those roles and improve them. My guess would also be that sometimes people that have been in those roles long enough don't have the ability to see the forest beyond the trees....and need to have some change brought in. I think this is a great thing, shake some things up.

They were all 4 political appointees in the Senior Executive Service. Their appointments are term appointments. They all knew that they absolutely serve at the discretion of POTUS. They did not have to accept their promotion to SES where they lost their Civil Service protections. It goes with the territory.
Learn about the topic before you post.

By letting Secretary Clinton depart her service and not turn in 60,000 e-mails as required by law.

Because they see clearly that these people are political animals and set the tone for the State Department over the last 8 years or so. Therefore they assume that in order to affect change, it would be best to change personnel.

Can these people provide support to people that get arrested erroneously in foreign countries? If so I'm sure Amanda Knox is pretty damn happy today

Trump got his orders from the Kremlin on the fax this morning.

What I was trying to say that only one of them was into what could be called politics/policy. The other three were into keeping the lights on work. I know they were all political appointees who serve at the pleasure of the Commander in Chief and not with civil service protctions. It just seems dumb to me to be all excited about the guy who handles passports leaving.

Our government has sat upon the pinnacle of dysfunction for decades. Why would the Kremlin want to rock that boat?

I have been in corporate positions enough times to see that shaking things up for the hell of it often leads to nothing but disaster.
