How many .45 revolvers do you see outside of a western movie?

I just happen to own two of them but they're both over fifty years old. (Inherited from my dad and an uncle, respectively.) A Colt 1917 DA Army model and a mid-60s S&W. So yeah, I guess most people don't come across them everyday. And both are way too bulky to carry with anything approaching comfort or concealment. But that 1917 is a pistol whipper's dream.

My point exactly

If you are so lucky as to own one of these things, it is not the kind of thing you'd carry around with you into a bar full of drunk bikers. You could sell it and buy a dozen knock-off 1911s.

An out of circulation colt revolver is also expensive

He tells the story far more in depth in his book.

About how he entered the bar, the woman he flirted with, what she was wearing, how it all ended with him in a mental hospital.

There are plenty other modern revolvers chambered in .45 Colt:

Taurus Judge
Ruger Vaquero, Blackhawk
Various Smith and Wessons
I think Ruger has a DA in .45 Colt also

Important to distinguish between ..45 Colt and .45 ACP, which are different rounds with the ACP being used in semi-auto pistols.

My 1917 DA handles ACPs fine if you use the half moon clips. It will actually fire ACPs fine without them, the problem arises when you go to remove the spent cartridges and the ejector(?) may or may not grab them properly. It's not an issue if you're just shooting beer cans.

I understand how revolvers work, his language heavily suggested it was a 1911

This is like the Outdoor Board and Political Talk combined!

I'm all in!

BTW - being a 2nd amendment loving citizen but more familiar with scatterguns and long guns, this is very informative.
Thanks!

Beckel is a Dem, so he is probably lying about the whole thing.
