On Thursday’s broadcast of MSNBC’s “Ana Cabrera Reports,” House Intelligence Committee Ranking Member Rep. Jim Himes (D-CT) stated that FISA reauthorization must get done because “it is a much more dangerous world today than it was five years ago. Terrorism concerns are up, China, Russia, Iran, North Korea.”

Sooooo….the US and World got much worse under Biden and his true handlers.

Hard to argue with that…but FISA is not the answer.

It would be nice to feel we had credible people making such pronouncements but nothing they have done in recent years have proven them to be credible people.

Why is getting a warrant to spy on U.S. citizens so difficult for these people to understand?

The voters don't care if you spy on foreigners who have no God given right to U.S. constitutional amendments. They care about U.S. citizens.

Stop spying on us without a warrant.

They are using FISA to spy on Trump right now as we speak

Yep. They are tapping his wires.

Probably got justification by sending him a spam email from Russia.

"Yep, that is Russian collusion. We have a reason to spy on Trump now."

ETA: Trump meets with foreigners all the time. He just had Victor Orban at MAL a couple of weeks ago. Communication between Trump and foreigners happen all the time.

Heck, communication between me and foreigners happen at least weekly. For some people it's several hours per day everyday.

A big problem with politicizing and weaponizing the intel agencies against US citizens, is that US citizens don’t trust anything the intel agencies say.

They already collect on every American. The warrant is to allow them to look at what they've already collected.

In a nutshell: "We record your phone calls, emails, text messages, the video/audio from the collection device you carry around in your pocket, and probably the video/audio inside your home via Alexa, your smart TV, and your Ring camera. But we promise we don't actually look at any of it unless a judge issues a warrant based on probable cause. Pinky swear."

Any time you see the phrase "search term", it means there's something to search (meaning it's already been collected and stored).

The FISA courts are rubber stamps. They approve basically anything put in front of them.

IG Horowitz also admitted that somewhere north of 10,000 federal employees have access to conduct these searches of the NSA database; a database which contains the electronic data of every single American, including emails, text messages, social media posts, instant messages, direct messages, phone calls, geolocation identifiers, purchases by electronic funds, banking records and any keystroke any American person puts into any electronic device for any reason.

A U.S. court found that the FBI improperly searched for information in a U.S. database of foreign intelligence 278,000 times over several years, including on Americans suspected of crimes, according to a ruling released on Friday.

The decision by the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court was released by the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI).

How bad is warrantless spying by our government? Pretty bad. Last April, Inspector General Michael Horowitz testified that in 2021 (the most recent year for which data is available) U.S. intelligence agencies made more than 3.4 million search queries of the NSA database and that of these, about 30 percent were “non-compliant searches,” which means they fell outside the normal rules and regulations. In other words, they were illegal. Horowitz also revealed that the number of federal government employees who have the ability to conduct these illegal searches is more than 10,000.

Call me cynical but we cannot have a functioning, independent democratic form of government with FISA.

We only have an illusion of democracy.

We have an oligarchy.

Some of us want to transform the USA into a Radical Leftist Totalitarian Regime. Under that kind of regime, the Intell Agencies of the State aim not to be trusted by the People, but, rather to be feared by the People.

FISA is a first step towards building a domestic surveillance capability that would be politically reliable to the State and would be at the disposal of the State.

The Leftist Totalitarian Regime maintains political power by being aggressive and pro-active in understanding and suppressing all deviant thought and those individuals who engage in deviant thought and activity of any kind.

I think this is the beginning of a real change of our country.

Why did Matt Gaetz and Trump re-authorize this in 2018?

Not enough support from people to nix it.

"You know that porn video, Big Tits 7, that's your go-to when you need to crank one out? We retitled it from 'Big Tits 7' to 'Dad Bangs Stepdaughter', and we have the video from your laptop camera of you jacking it. You wouldn't want your family and friends to think you want to bang your stepdaughter, do you? Sounds embarrassing. No? Then you might want to vote 'yes' on the 702 bill."
