If Assad is removed and regime changes happens we all know what will happen next.

Secular leaders in the ME no matter how fricked up keep some stability, b/c they rule with an iron fist and Arabs for the most part can't evolve into rational self governing people.

This power vacuum will just help ISIS and other extremist.

We need to just stay out of it and let Syria and Russia figure it out with the blood of their troops. If some how Assad gets over thrown by the Syrian people then it was fait and good for them, for standing up and fighting back.

Sadly, Trump knows nothing about history and the stupid neocons only care about their oil and money.

It will be different this time, I promise. These people CRAVE Western Democracy and we are duty bound to give it to them through American blood and treasure. For the children. Amen.

I agree. We've lost too much in that worthless shite corner of the world. It's time they handle their own problems.

We should send McCain and Graham to rule as co-dictators

I was good with the initial strike but I hope all of this other bullshite is just posturing.

We don't need a power vacuum in Syria.

That's a nice assumption.

I'm okay with this.

However our neocon and the US MIC are not okay with it. They do not like the fact that Russia is setting up shop in the eastern Mediterranean.

Russia setting up shop is worse to them than Iran backed Muslim extremists filling in the Assad vacuum followed by Christian genocide.

What happens if you remove Bashar but his youngest brother Maher comes in? Rumors are that he's extremely volatile (think Kim Jong-Un without nukes but more mentally stable).

It's hard to argue this is a one-sided affair after the last eight years of Obama.

Instead of focusing on regime change as the means of instilling democracy, there should be pressure on helping develop institutions that are robust enough to withstand the change of power. That would require more benevolent rulers as well. Morocco is a good example of an Arab country that could, in 15 to 20 years, develop into a democracy organically, if they continue their relative progress. They've averaged a healthy growth rate since 2000 and hopefully that can be indicative of further liberalization. I think there is this false belief that democracy can come without relative wealth.

It's not Iran backed extremists. It's Sunni extremist backed by Saudi Arabia and Qatar.

If you favor removing Assad you favor the spread of radical Islam and Christian genocide.

So it's al Nusra, ISIS and al Qaeda that are the Sunni's backed by Saudi Arabia and Assad with Hezbollah (Shias) backed by Iran?

Yes. The Iraqi Shia PMF are also providing support, because ISIS is dedicated to eradicating the Shia.

SCH, in your opinion, is what we're seeing from Trump as simple as "the neocons have gotten to him"?
